Elementary school student apprehended over arson attacks
BEPPU, Oita -- Police have taken an elementary school student into custody for allegedly starting a fire at a park, officers said.
The boy, whose name is being withheld as he is a minor, had admitted that he was responsible for a total of seven arson attacks in Oita Prefecture, from Jan. 26 to Feb. 1.
The case for which the boy was taken into custody involves a fire he started with dry leaves at a local park at about on Wednesday.
In the six arson attacks, the garage of a house was partially burned and a part of a tree was scorched. (Mainichi)
