Man, 37, held over murder of friend

MATSUYAMA--Police on Saturday arrested a 37-year-old unemployed man for his alleged robbery and murder of a 21-year-old university student in Matsuyama in mid December.
According to the police, Tadashi Akamatsu strangled to death his friend Shunsuke Kanbara at the victim's apartment.. Akamatsu allegedly stole 10,000 yen and 52 items belonging to Kanbara, including a video game console.
Akamatsu frequently visited the victim's home to play video games, according to the police.
Akamatsu was quoted by the police as saying, "I lost my temper and killed Kanbara because he demanded I pay back 10,000 yen that I owed him."
