TAKAMATSU — A 25-year-old mother was arrested Wednesday on suspicion of neglecting to feed her second son properly, resulting in the death of the 3-year-old toddler, police said. The Kagawa prefectural police identified the woman as Ai Yama$hita, a restaurant employee, from Takamatsu.
The police said she admitted to the allegation and quoted her as saying "I felt the eldest son was more adorable than the second son." Yama$hita lives with her 48-year-old mother and two children — a 4-year-old eldest son and the second son, Ayumu. Around 3 p.m. Tuesday, Yama$hita's mother told the police she found her grandson dead, the police said.
