ICHINOMIYA, Aichi -- An elementary school teacher faces charges after he admitted having filmed schoolgirls changing clothes at the school where he works, local police and education authorities said Wednesday.
Ichinomiya police are poised to question the 36-year-old teacher at a municipal elementary school on suspicion of violating the Minor Offense Law in response to a complaint filed by the parents of one of the children.
A girl who unchanged in the school's gymnasium to take an electrocardiogram on the morning of Jan. 31 found a video camera covered with blue cloth there, officials at the municipal board of education said.
She noticed that the video was filming and alerted the teacher, who was the homeroom teacher of her class. However, he failed to report the incident to his bosses.
He admitted to having filmed the girls after another teacher, who heard of the incident from the girl, grilled him. The video camera belongs to the school. (Mainichi)
