Mom, foster dad arrested for pricking her daughter with needle for horses

URAKAWA, Hokkaido -- A woman and her live-in boyfriend have been arrested for pricking her daughter with a syringe needle for horses under the pretext of discipline, police said.

At around 9 p.m. on Jan. 28, Shirai and Hase pricked her 6-year-old daughter's buttocks several times with a 15-centimeter-long syringe needle for horses at their home in Urakawa, local police said. The victim suffered injuries that took two weeks to heal, local police said.

The pair told investigators that they did it because her daughter was disobedient. Investigators are grilling them over allegations that they regularly abused the daughter.

'needle for horses' (as opposed to needle meant for horses) confused me the first time i read it. it was as if they were poking her to entertain horses or they were poking her to look for horses in her @$$.

i was like WTF.
