A 59-year-old man was found dead Saturday in a forest in Hakonemachi, Kanagawa Prefecture, after his 25-year-old daughter was found strangled at their home in Tokyo. The man had called police Tuesday to report that he had killed her.
The man, a restaurant owner in Toshima Ward, Tokyo, had been missing since Tuesday after calling the police.
According to the Kanagawa prefectural police's Odawara Police Station, the man had hanged himself with a rope from a tree. The police concluded that his death was a suicide after finding a note he left in which he wrote that he intended to kill himself.
The Metropolitan Police Department, which had been investigating the murder of his daughter, will send papers on the case to prosecutors listing the crime as a murder with the suspect dead.
