I also invite you guys to visit China and visit the tomb of Emperor Yongle, the second emperor of Ming. He showed Mongolian people the way back to Mongolia on the other side of Great Wall. And, he helped Karakorum get resting place inside the sand. And, he did not kill all the Mongol people. Only 70,000 and some slaves. The rest he let go free in the desert and tundra. Chinese govt. should celebrate Yongle Emperor too. Yongle would have been a good friend of Mongol people.

^No that was his grandson. Yongle would not even give you the chance to do that to him. If it was not for the trouble caused by Tamerlane in western parts, Yongle would have gone on to finish what he almost completed in Mongolia. He was getting ready for another expedition to Mongolia, but old age struck him and he died on a hunting trip. You should be happy for that.

Look at English people. They wish for the return of King Arthur. Look at your Mongol people. They wish for the return of Genghis Khan. It is not a crime for me to wish for my Chinese people to get back Emperor Li Shimin with his magical sword.

Why would you erect a statue of somebody that raped and murdeured so many people? While there at it they might as well just erect statues of all the japanese soldiers and generals who raped and murdeured us too! This is one of the stupidest moves by the chinese government I have ever seen. So much for national pride. The guy was scum and if he was alive today they should have ripped his veins out and strangle him alive with it not erecting statues of this motherf*cker. Its the mongolian people that worship him let them erect stautes not us were chinese and completely different we have no business doing this. This is a disgrace and a slap in the face to the millions of chinese and others who died during his rampages.

Well, he was after all the leader of the Yuan Dynasty, therefore he's still part of Chinese history nonetheless. But as the world's greatest conqueror, I don't think so. I'd say Nurhaci was up against even more odds when he overthrew the Ming than Genghis Khan with the Song (which is one of China's weakest military wise). But damn...if only he successfully invaded Japan LOL. Well, no $hit he's Mongol, however the center of his power lied within China, therefore I'd say the Yuan was Chinese, albeit ruled by a ruthless bastard.

Nurhaci overthrew the Ming? I thought the Ming dynasty was already at her limit when Manchu came to power. Ming wasnt overthrew by the Manchus but by Li Zi Cheng (great Chinese rebel lord who unfortunetly know nothing about international situation). If the Manchus didnt come we would have the Shuen dynasty!

We also have a statue of Norman Bethune, a foreigner, but he clearly deserves to have one in his honor. The reason why we even have statues of people like Genghis Khan is because we don't discriminate against non-Han/non-Chinese. Our official 56 minorities in China are a clear example of our respect for other cultures. Some people, such as Khatun, have to get it through to their heads that us Chinese have nothing against Mongolians or anyone else in general. There may be occasional weirdos like Qlittlemon (sp?), or the trolling Chinese member Khatun was talking about earlier, but you gotta understand that the overall consensus is that we Chinese do not have any ill feelings towards Mongolians or whoever else. Actually, before any Mongolians came into here spouting negativity, I thought fondly of them as an interesting people. I wasn't even aware that there should be tensions between us at all.
But to answer your question, yes, I think there definitely should be a Bruce Lee statue. OMG, Bruce Lee!

I respect the fact that china has so much love towards all ethnicities including mongolians but we can give them respect without putting up a statue of genghis khan and glorifying his killing sprees. Would a jewish person build a statue of hitler just because he was a great leader? NO, would america put up a statue of bin laden just because he was a clever strategist and mastermind? No. so why should we put up a statue of genghis khan just because people were impressed by his so called feats??? You'll never convince me that this is right I feel this is throwing our pride and dignity out the window and spitting on the graves of those that were raped killed and starved to death by this lunatic. Theres also that danger of the double standard that we give to the japanese but not to the mongolians. How foolish does it make us look when we constantly harp on them about the atrocities of WW2 when they killed 400,000 people but yet when it comes to a person who killed millions of chinese people we build a damn statue in his honor?? Where is the common sense in that? As far as Im concerned anybody or country that has ever raped and invaded our country and killed does not deserve this kind of recognition and I find it infuriating that people would do this. Its 2006 when are we going to learn to stop embarassing ourselves and start setting our eyes on the bigger prizes in life like respect and longevity instead of the decades of torment and embarassment at the hands of foreign countries and armies because we were to damn nice and not forthcoming enough about our honor and respect!
