She was the only one of the top three who went out and did it. Starting the second round in third place, the top two had numerous mistakes and Arakawa came through. Congratulations to her and to Japan for finally getting that medal!

The funniest is that Arakawa didn't want to participate to the Olympics at first and only did because she was pi$$ed off at finishing 9th at the last World's championship.

There arent many tall Japanese women, on average I think Korean women are slightly taller than Japanese or around the same height.

Winter Olympics, Japan doesn't excel in any of the fields. Had a few hopefuls, none have really paid off.

This is complete BS. Cohen AND SLutskaya fell and they both made the podium. Suguri didn't fall, and she's in 4th place. Something is wrong here.

Each of these three could have won the gold with clean performances. Had they all skated perfectly, the results would've been put under a microscope. The judges are fortunate that Shizuka was such a decisive winner, and her win was a satisfying end to two weeks of fantastic competition.

Did you watch the first round? The top three were so far ahead of the rest.
Oh and also throw in the fact that Suguri does relatively easy and conservative routines.
