i believe karay-a is a subdialect of hiligaynon(ilonggo) but my classmates before told me that is the root dialect of hiligaynon. actually karay-a is sharper in intonation compared to ilonggo. i stayed in iloilo for 4 years and it is comparable to manila tagalog:batangas tagalog, cebu cebuano:bohol cebuano, etc.
