anyway, who thinks the current khmer singers of today could rival sin sisamouth's voice and his singing talents? in my opinion, no one in cambodia could top him. he brought the best of khmer music. he was original and even if he did recorded a few songs that were foreign, it sounded good hearing it in khmer. i'm starting a collection of sin sisamouth's greatest tracks. pich chenda tries to sing sin sisamouth's songs but it just won't cut it.

All musics from Sinsismouth are still a hit music. There are a lot of good singers today for the males. I still think none of them are equal to Sinsisamouth yet. I think I will still listen to Sinsisamouth until I die.

Based on the popularity, Sin Sisamouth will always remain in "many" of the Khmer people's hearts and minds.

However, I wonder though what aspects of Sin Sisamouth (voice? lyrics? performance? personality? patriotism? themes? etc...) that continue to have a lasting appealing effect on the Khmer people? What age group of the Khmer people is still attracted to the Sin Sisamouth?

These are some of the essential questions that I request that someone would need to do a research on so that the successful elements can be pinpointed and emulated. This information would be beneficial to any enterprising Khmer song writer, and singer.

sin sisamouth is a singer, songs writer, and also music teacher. he used his spear time in his room writing the songs for himself and also for other singers. he sing in the popular resturant in phnom phen for about approx. one thousand rail per night in the late 1960 and the early 1970 but not everynight. he told his son not to follow his foot step, can't make money in this profession he told his son. he want his son to be in the health care field instead. in cambodia everybody in the country can write songs if they want too then send it to the record company call voyho, possmeas, povseapo etc.. the company edited it then have those singers sing the songs, sometime song owner (regular people) sing their own songs, that is why sometime you don't know whose sing that particular song and it doesn't sound good, sin sinsamouth resing that song... sometime and it sound sooooo good. for example a song call pol-toe-are-pop. it was sang by the owner but it doesn't sound good, resing by sin sisamouth. this song is true story, the owner of the song were heart broken,he got marry, three months later the govnt. send him to south vietnam to be trained in the army by american army. when he came back home he found out that his wife fall in love with another man, don-treay.he became depressed, started to write that song. pol toe are pop

^^wow. i wouldn't expect that many people to know sin sisamouth's life. well, i heard from people that the khmer rouge had him sing one last song before they kill him. that's what i heard. i don't know if it's true though. eng nary, another great khmer singer was taught by sin sisamouth's. i heard he was eng nary's mentor. a lot of people say his voice sounds similar to sin sisamouth's and i gotta say it is true. sin sisamouth can sing from traditional to wedding to chapey and a lot more. what's mostly unique about the songs he record is the traditional khmer musical instrument he used in a lot of his songs.

i know very little about his personal life but definitely his voice and lyrics. a lot of his lyrics are simple but very meaningful. people are surprised to know that i listen to sin sisamouth songs because i'm only 19. it's probably people who are in their 20's that listen to them. man, all i have to say is khmer oldies from the 60's to 70's are still being played by a lot of khmer folks. those current singers are wack except for touch sreynich and kat sokim though biggrin.gif

just to name a few, my favorite sin sisamouth's songs:

bopha chiang mai
champa banteay dek
or akara
prek eng os sangkhum
kompong thom chomrom chet
and many more.......................
