anyway, who thinks the current khmer singers of today could rival sin sisamouth's voice and his singing talents? in my opinion, no one in cambodia could top him. he brought the best of khmer music. he was original and even if he did recorded a few songs that were foreign, it sounded good hearing it in khmer. i'm starting a collection of sin sisamouth's greatest tracks. pich chenda tries to sing sin sisamouth's songs but it just won't cut it.
sin sisamouth is a singer, songs writer, and also music teacher. he used his spear time in his room writing the songs for himself and also for other singers. he sing in the popular resturant in phnom phen for about approx. one thousand rail per night in the late 1960 and the early 1970 but not everynight. he told his son not to follow his foot step, can't make money in this profession he told his son. he want his son to be in the health care field instead. in cambodia everybody in the country can write songs if they want too then send it to the record company call voyho, possmeas, povseapo etc.. the company edited it then have those singers sing the songs, sometime song owner (regular people) sing their own songs, that is why sometime you don't know whose sing that particular song and it doesn't sound good, sin sinsamouth resing that song... sometime and it sound sooooo good. for example a song call pol-toe-are-pop. it was sang by the owner but it doesn't sound good, resing by sin sisamouth. this song is true story, the owner of the song were heart broken,he got marry, three months later the govnt. send him to south vietnam to be trained in the army by american army. when he came back home he found out that his wife fall in love with another man, don-treay.he became depressed, started to write that song. pol toe are pop
