they also would coat them in human waste to make them more deadly by causing infection
a common way they were used besides "punji pits" was to put them along trails and cover them with grass
so when a weapon is fired or a grenade is thrown, troops seek cover and are impaled.

this viet cong boobytrap was also made with sharpened bamboo stakes, it was designed with a trip wire and would swing down from a tree and impale a person
the VC would usually rig some type of diversion to make you look up at something unusual in the trees then you would trip on the trip wire and release this ball of pungi sticks to swing down and strike the enemy

A co-worker of mine told me that his American neighbour was severely wounded because of this punji pit; the guy lost completely both of his legs.

Have you guys ever heard of the saying "One stone hits two birds"? During the Vietnam War, a Vietnamese missle was able to hit and down two American aircrafts at the same time. I read it from a Vietnamese news article not long ago.
Anyway, that's VTV4; when did they show that?

LOL

2 On average, according to American propaganda, it requires 30 missiles to shoot down one of their planes

Anyway, the most famous Punji sticks were those used at the Bach Dang battles.

Any favorable numbers that the American throw out, take that and divide it by 5-10 and you might get a closer figure.

They showed it on the 33th anniversary of the Air war over Hanoi, 12/2005.

That's impossible, considering the total number of missles used for the entire war were 6,806 and the number of U.S aircrafts shot down were more than 4000.

^VietNam has the S-300PMU-1 system.
^
That is a great air-defense system.
Though we don't have the most current, the PMU-2 system, which can fly 50 more kilometers.

^As great as it is, VietNam doesn't have the quantity.
^
Well, that is part of the money problem that we always seem to face.

2
And that is why we have to stay out of arm conflict; by being neutral, by political marneuver, by whatever means...as long as we retain our independence and territorial integrity.

Staying out of armed conflict is one way, but investing money in military equipment is necessay because it secures VietNam's maritime, air and land boundaries. While money is the problem VietNam cannot afford not to have high-tech weaponry.

I think I face dilemma like that everyday too. Should I bring my car to the mechanic for a tune-up or should I call my bookie?

2
How about the Vietnamese Armed Forces just go ahead and arrest all the crooks in the gov't, confisticate all their possession and use that for the hi-tech weapons?

You can also see the two Vietnamese Tarantuls in the 7th picture (HQ-373, I think, is in the middle)
