How many real voting systems are there in the world? Most are rigged anyway!
Doan Du
It's not the voting system that is rigged. It's the political party that is not allowed. Only the Vietnamese Communist Party is allowed to run for the election.

What the use of the election if you can't make a choice?

Not worthy of the great nation of Vietnam.

You have to take baby steps before learning to run, or else you'll fall flat on your face.
Nam Quoc Son Ha
Oh wells, at least they get to vote. That's a first step anyway.

Of course I knew that. You don't get my point do you?

This is a Communist state, you don't expect elections. However, the party allows the people to have some say regarding who should be representing them at the lower and middle level, which I think is encouraging as currently Vietnam is a fusion of Communist and Democratic ideas. For your concern, if you ask Vietnamese people in Vietnam, they'll tell you that the country and their lives has improved alot, not just economically but politically and socially.

So far I have not heard of anything good about Vietnam coming out of your mouth. sure.gif
Byron
Hey why are these Vietnam government haters all of a sudden loving elections? Didn't the Diem and American regime cheated Ho Chi Minh out of his election victory??? They knew he was going to win so instead they decided to withdraw their deal of giving an election and launched the Vietnam war.

So because of Diem and his South Vietnamese mafia government troops, they cheated him out. But lucky those mobsters were defeated.

Tsk tsk tsk if it wasn't for those people who got rid of the elections then there would be no Vietnam war.

Now all of a sudden when the Communists are in power, it's ok to have elections why not back then?

Wushu champion Thúy Hiền actually ran for office.

She's such a source of pride for Vietnamese and pretty cute too.

Sure you do. sure.gif Oppressive govt always hold election to try and justify their rule. Before Hitler annexed Austria, he held elections there and sent in his storm troopers to...ahem...keep the peace and insure a fair democratic process. Saddam held elections. The Iraqi voted for him in blood remeber. Then they tore the head of his statue and pissed on his picture after he was toppled.
Nam Quoc Son Ha
Oh did I mention that my filthy rich great-aunt is running for the election in Saigon? She is already the head of the "Hoi Phu Nu" in Khu Van Sinh, a market area in district one. We'll be calling her later to see whether she has won. She told us she didn't want to go for it but it was an order given down from the top asking her to represent the area coz she's a philanthropist who helped alot of poor people and kinda have alot of money as well. beerchug.gif

So the Communists have been quite good to your family. Is she a member of the Party?
Nam Quoc Son Ha
No she wasn't. She got recommendation by the local government to the central authority that she be allowed to represent her district even though she didn't want to. She accepted anyway because she realised that she might be able to bring some benefits to the poor people in her area.

Well, that is a noble goal so congratulate her for me if she wins.
