If you like endless grinding like any other MMORPGs out there, then go buy it.
stillarook
sounds fun. i want to buy it, but i want other people's opinion first cause i don't want to spend 50 bucks on a crappy game with subscription

rf-online means rising allegiance. it's about 3 nation, the robot, the nature people, and ones in between fighting for a planet named novus for its valuable resources

rf-online means rising allegiance.

are you sure that the name is correct? cause allegiance doesn't have a "F". RF Online means Rising Force Online.

RF Online (Korea) / RF Online [Japan] / RF Online [US/Europe] (distribuited by Codemasters)

oh yeah, that's what i meant to say, my bad. because i saw the ads and it says choose your alligiance, so i got mixed up.

I used to play this on the Japanese servers during its beta period. They had it as "Fantasy & Romance Online."

Anyways, about the gameplay. It was really fun at first. Almost everything you hit will drop equipment, which you can use to sell and get rich pretty quickly. After you hit level 27 or so, it starts to be a real grind. At level 30, you get to select your second class. I was a Cora summoner cause I thought the Animus looked really cool. After level 30, it's a real grind. They restricted the level to 32 so you can't go to other planets. Also, during the battle for the core, the Bellatio (humans) had a great advantage because they get to drive a mech, which has an insane amount of hitpoints.

The stat leveling was rather unique. Basically, you can level up any stat as long as you use the specific equipment that affects that status. Another interesting thing about the game is that you can be dual classes. What I mean by this is that you can start off as a warrior class and once you hit level 30 and change to your 2nd job, you can pick any job because they're not class restricted. The quests for this game was really simple as well. Once you hit the level, your headquarters will message you about the quest for that level and you can just pick it up then. Usually, the quest is to kill x number of creatures at your level.

What I liked about RFO is the battle for the core. Two times every day, the 3 races try to destroy each other's tech tower thingy for control of the core. It's complete random chaos and really fun biggrin.gif Once our race wins, they get access to the core and can mine for ores over there at super fast rates (ores can be upgraded to talics, which are used to upgrade your equipment).

Overall, I think this was a fun game. Not the best, but worth playing.

yeah, but it worth 50 bucks, and i barely have 4! and how much's the subscription fees?
cabbit
$15/month with first month free.
stillarook
that's a lot. i barely have 25 buck a month. AND they don't accept money orders or game cards!
cabbit
It's not too bad compared to other games.
stillarook
maybe i'll stick to guild wars right now. they have pretty good review, and you don't have to pay to go online

Eww GuildWars! I think there were lots of factors in consideration of it having good reviews. Mainly because there's no monthly fees and the graphics are good. Other than that...there's no uniqueness like you see in other MMORPG games. It's just not addictive after awhile. However, I do think it's worth every penny but will it last long? No! icon_confused.gif
stillarook
actually, the free fee and the graphics are the ONLY reason i'm gonna buy it. i think i'm only gonna buy the new one, not the old one
kaizen
Don't be fooled by graphic. This game is just pure ginde-fest. Bunch of PVPs with no quests or stories.
