Are Hmong folks money hungry or not considering most of these so called Hmong non-profit orginazations?
Yes they are power hungry...That is why the ones who are business men always tries to take adventages of the rest of the hmong population.
I agree vaj_vilan, they are power hungry. After all money is power. It's like sometimes they could care less about unification and really just go for self. That is why us Hmong people have not really chosen or elected our own real leader. Due to the fact that if you look back upon our history. all of our more notable Hmong leaders were empowered by outsiders. For example Tou By Lyfoung by the french and Vaj pao by the Americans. So in doing so by empowering them they became more like puppets. Agree or Disagree?
Yes...Being a puppet is all it is. We hmong no longer have a noble sense of duty any more. Its like getting fat, enjoying the american culture, get to drive cars, we are just being conceited and exploited. Everyone is trying to get their pockets filled these days...That really make my blood boil. We've being around for thousands of years and yet has not even made progress in anything. We used to be a social race where one's problem is all problems, now its nothing.

Your on piont Vaj_vilan. But I just hope that we won't get somebody as worse or perhaps worser than Vang Pao. But truthfully Vang Pao did do some honorable things for his people. But it just seems that his less honorable deeds out weigh his honorable ones.

now that's where your wrong....maybe its just you that is ashame of your own race whatever that is...but me hmong i'm pround of my race and will do anything to perserve it...and as long as there's no leader in the future we will still keep our culture and that is more important.....many leaders will come for example me....trust me.....
Hmong people are not money hungry. In fact they enjoy sharing...always having those lunch/dinners to tie hands or what not. I think Hmongs are the most welcoming and friendly people.
There will always be some bad apples but the majority are pretty friendly and sharing.

yes i agree, hmongs are not money hungry. people are money hungry and just because some of those money hungry people happen to be hmong you can not just bring down the whole hmong race as money hungry. and plus, there is so many points on view of money hungry. do you mean money hungry as in working hard because you want money or jumping in front a car for money? and how can you say that you're ashamed of your race vajvilan? seems more like you're ashamed of yourself. our ancestors fought so hard and suffered through so many situations so we would not lose our culture and be a proud race, not so thier own people can be ashamed of it hundreds or thousands of years later.

There were some VN KidGangsters killed by the another nations in just three weeks ago! They probably Drug dealer then they cheated to each other team, thats why they stubed two VN Gangsters dead immediately...The drug dealer is not good!!!!!!!!!The educator is the best........

Yo rockheart I take offensive what you posted on the other forums about how smart hmong people's english skills and grammer are! Just look at yourself! Your not that great either! In fact your probably worse than Jin the chinese rapper, I probably have more respect for him than you. So if you're just starting english, you should watch what you say to certain individuals like myself or you might get yourself jumped in the streets in my hood!
Like the black people say watch what you say and how you said it and where! Fair warning to any haters dissing the hmong people with stupid physcology games as this one. I don't really care if you appologize you need to learn to watch your mouth. Like Eminem said in one of his rap songs! Let's not get started on hating 'cause I can say a lot of hateful things about vietamese people too. Just because a couple of hmong haters did something bad doesn't mean all hmongs are bad. And like someone said, maybe someone in the store said something or did something bad to those hmongs and they were just paying back. They (the hmong) shouldn't have done that because it's wrong but maybe the store owners deserved it. Maybe some other viets burned down a hmong store and they just wanted to pay back. You don't know the whole story. If it was your store and you were an honestly good person and they burned down your store, I could understand but I doubt any hmong would do something like that to a nice viet store owner.
Maybe they don't like viets because they are still pissed at what the vietcoms did to the hmong people during the Vietname War. Instead of always being pissed and angry at hmongs why don't you (if you are vietnamese) educate them. Teach them that it's over and that not all vietnamese are vietcoms and are out to kill hmongs. You may not be vietcom but I'm sure you know how difficult it is to try to be friends with say a white guy when all other white guys make racist comments about vietnamese. Don't just point fingers.

So for you to say that some Hmong's whos actually making decent money in the states are money hungry, I could understand why. The Americans, Chinese, Europeans, etc. etc. has been like this for years. We live in a different society now and things are a lot different. If you didn't know that by now, I guess your not as americanized as you thought you where.

I don't think all Hmong are money hungry or greedy. It might seem like it, but I think that it's because pretty much all Hmong people came to the US as immigrants and poor. So, of course you would want money and power to change your situation. It's a rough world sometimes, and you gotta make the best of it. But that by no means that you're greedy or power hungry. A bit of money does go a long way in changing someone's life. Plus, people who aren't greedy may not draw attention to themselves, so you wouldn't notice them. I think it's ultimately the desire for a better life all around that prompts alot of people to encourage the ideas of earning lots of money and power

No you don't understand if you're not hmong. Even doctorate hmong peoples cheat their way...All they care is $$$. They don't give a damn about the poor, infact the only thing that they care is how to rip their own people off. I've seen it....Its because of $$$ that lead to the downfall of hmong people. folks, its like this, i dont know if money is evil nor do i know if money has the capability to make people evil, what i do know is that money makes bad people worst and good people better.
I don't think I'm that young. I do believe that most people start out with good intentions, but of course environment always shape people. I never said anything about what happens in between and fear and suffering can be a very good reason for a person to want money and power, whether for good or bad.
I guess, I just don't know very many people who want money and power from the start just to be evil and greedy. Most people I know that are greedy or power hungry are people who have suffered in some way and don't want to go back to suffering so are unwillinging to share with others or fear the loss of what they've gained, so stress to their kids about earning money and status for power.
Hmong people in general, aren't that rich or well known. We've always been a minority in someone else's country, so logically, we'd want something to call our own. As I said, environment plays a big role. I don't believe any one person starts out as greedy from the beginning.
Of course money and power always corrupt a person, if you get too much of it and there's no control, but for someone who's never had much money or power, it's hard to see beyond that.

It's not only HMONG people, its PEOPLE in general that are money hungry. The older Hmong people have always been very open about their needs.

Can't blame anyone for being money hungry...that's the way life is. There is no life without money. Even if you are a person who with limited desires and doesn't want alot in life, you still need to make money to earn a living.
I guess if you wanna live a simple life with no worries about money, maybe you could always just buy a ticket to asia and find a village to live in, become a farmer or beggar, build your house out of grass and sticks and just wander into the high hills and chill, laughing at the world

But over there is very very... poor. Everything is scarced, more precisely the food. And what do you need FOOD for!?
You can answer that.... Money is the only thing to buy wants/needs unless you grow your own food or milk your own cow or manufacture your own car. The point is, this world is economical and needs a system in which they can exchange as a value equal to whatever the item is. I know you already realize this but I'm just generalizing it. And it sucks, living with money problems and seeing people robbing. You can't do crap about it. You can't be working for the rest of your life either... you're not a robot but you have to IF YOU WANT TO LIVE. Trading time for money is BS but that's the only way to show effort that you did something to get credit for doing it.

no hmong people are NOT money hungry..but it depends on the individual and you shouldn't stereotype hmong as being money hungry...my father is president/founder of a non-profit organization researching the hmong written language and culture and he gets NOTHING! he doesn't get paid or anything but he still does it!
All Humans, Hmong people included, by nature and selfish and money-grubbing.
Yeah, Hmong people are money and power hungry but just as much as the next person, black, white, mexican, chinese etc. Man people gotta open up there eyes more to see that we aren't the only ones with problems. We're not that bad. There are a lot of good Hmong people.
