Iinkwan, my fren is from spain actually, and she is with one of the research institutes with grants from the pharmaceutical corporations. Many SGs are griping about the entry of foreign talents, I just want to tell you that this is the best thing SG can do for its society and industries, so do enjoy your work and life in SG!
Gula, the elephant populations in E Africa were heavily hammered in the 70s-80s by poachers. But now, they have recovered in numbers but still nothing like before. Unfortunately, with the growth of human encroachments on elephant range, much of the elephant habitat has shrunk and there is a huge rise in human-elephant conflicts. This problem is across Africa and Asian elephant countries too. Some countries like Tanzania and the Southern African countries adopt hunting and culling as a measure to control the elephant population in an attempt to keep their numbers sustainable vis-a-vis their shrinking habitat range. Other countries like Kenya and Uganda are depending on donor funds to keep their flagship species but they need greater land use planning to resolve the human-elephant conflicts.

haha..it's trus tangawizi. Many indonesians come to singapore to work after their graduation from other countries like usa, uk, malaysia, australia, taiwan, indonesia, etc. I think the job opportunity here is quite big but u have to be patient. some people rush into doing a Landed Permanent Resident by paying 800 SGD, not knowing whether the application will be approved or not. While some wait in patience and they got job offered in 1-2 months of waiting. I myself found my first job after 2 months. this is my 2nd job though...

Hi iinkwan, there is a fear that the best and brightest talents from developing countries are being attracted to other countries for better paying jobs, which then deprives their own countries of the benefits of their output. This happens not only in Asian countries, but also African and Latin American states.
In Ghana and Kenya, trained nurses are being offered better packages to work in the US or UK to care for the sick and aged. This has meant the hospitals are understaffed as the nurses leave in droves to the west.
The solution here is not easy of course, the developing nations need to become richer and afford better pay conditions to their professionals.
Do you have any desire to return to your home country to work one day, iinkwan? Or are you hoping to get a great job in the west as well?

hmmm i must say if i go back to my home country, i hope i can do some business (set up a business related to my course of study if possible). As whether or not i am hoping to work in the west, well i shud say that cross my mind pretty often. And the fact that my bf is now in the states, i think it is fine to think bout working in states (if i happen to marry him and he got a good job there). so right now i am just enjoying my day working here and earn money as well as experience. the rest of it, i will have to see where my future husband will be hahahahaha....^^

hm as for me, i will put my marriage as my first priority. of course career is important but to compare them, i won't risk my marriage. but of course couples have to discuss first before they tie the knot. but well, it's still a long way to go for me and i dun think much of it right now. hehe
