Actually,

the mujtahid is the one who knows what is related to judgments in the Qur’an and Sunnah, al-^amm and al-khass, al-mutlaq and al-muqayyad, al-mujmal and al-mubayyan, an-nasikh and al-mansukh. Also from the Sunnah he knows the mutawatir, al-ahad, al-mursal, al-muttasil, and the trustworthiness and/or discredibility of the narrators. The mujtahid knows the sayings of the Companions, and the mujtahids after them, the ijma^ and other, including al-qiyas (the hidden and apparent, the correct and incorrect). He knows the mother tongue of the Arabs that the Qur’an was revealed in, and he knows the essentials of the belief. It is conditional that the mujtahid be trustworthy, have strong intellectual ability, and have memorized the ayat and hadiths that pertain to deducing rules. Moreover, the people of knowledge would profess such traits to him.

Not exactly what I would call a common find eh icon_wink.gif

Who should join?
Study of the world's religions will lead to an understanding of religious diversity.Understanding will lead to inter-religious dialogue.Dialogue will lead to peace among religions.Peace among religions will lead to peace among nations.

AsiaFinest Islamic Society welcomes all Muslims and non-Muslims, helping them understand Islam and live by its teachings and principles. We strongly believe that working for Islam is not just about campaigning for Muslim rights, but also about sharing Islam's view on God, life and society. We do so as an organised and dedicated group, engaging in sincere and constructive dialogue.

I have a sincere question, and I'm not trying to offend anyone that may be Muslim by it being construde as a "stupid question," but the question derives partly from my admiration for Islam, and specifically Islamic women, in regards to the question.

1: Why is it, it seems generally speaking, Islamic women are so loyal to Islam and Islamic men?

2: Is it just a false impression I have?

3: Being that I place very high premium on loyalty, placing it above money, sex, status reward and everything else short of God, my personality leads me to believe the attributes of fidelity in Islamic women (if my impression is not false) mystically cast mirror reflection on some greater and divine truth essential to the nature and religion of Islam. What would a Muslim say to this or about their own opinions on the fidelity of Islamic women? (I've heard that the Hindus believe when a peoples women go to hell so to hell goes that society and people)

While their are some loyal women in Catholicism (probably 10 times more in Evangelical Protestant Christianity), from my own life long personal experience I would say well over 90% are extremely unloyal to both Catholicism and to Catholic men in general. I'm not suggesting I expect one to live out their faith perefectly - hell there was never a single time I lived out Catholicism perefectly icon_smile.gif - but to never have one ounce of loyalty or even sentiment of loyalty to your religion strikes me as something deceptive and fake.

I personally don't like, fashion wise, those scarfs many Muslim women wear wraped around their head (actually the Catholic lace mantilla women in Catholicism once wore I find much more fashionably attractive. But that's another matter), yet many of them, even young women, wear these things never surrenduring their Islamic identity. To this extent I'm intrigued by their virtue to wear these things. But over all, and all-in-all, I find, through my limited observation, that Muslim women are pound for pound the most loyal women on earth. On the other hand from Catholic women to Secular women I observe some of the most untrust worthy and conniving women on the planet.

Religion, like secularist beliefs and social bond, like ideology and its consequent tribal hatred and fraternities, is much about community. Democrats and Republicans hate each other more than any Buddhist, Catholic, or Muslim will ever fight and shout at one another in the United States, so the two political parties ideologies are no hrabingers of peace even in their secularized nature. I'm digressing... but nonetheless the community of Islam seems out of every religion and out of ever secular belief seems so far to me in contemporary times to have the best balanced philosophy of reality related to war and peace. Unlike in the Middle Ages, contemporary Catholicism emphasizes that a male child in a violent area (could be Chicago or the West Bank) should day after day allow himself to be kicked in the teeth and even have his penis cut off, rather than turn the other cheek one day, and the next pop the people on the chops (or draw his sword), who once again try to assult his physical person. Secularism emphisizes what I would term a social capitalism, meaning allow gangsterism, violence, cruelty, and exploitation to flow with lust and triumph in an area an then let the socially best rise to the top in moral and social competition (not unsimilar to economic capitalsim), and to hell with those that fall by the way side. Buddhism is by-in-large charitable, but it observes and by-in-large that's it, hence no labor orginization I'm aware of ever orginated in Buddhist society. Islam on the other hand... emphasizes both peace and the right of an individual to love and protect himself after repeated attacks on his person. Islam also considers itself a certain superhero to the "weak" and "exploited."

Now I could be wrong on some of the things I've said, I don;t know everything, and I'm certainly not an authority on all religions or beliefs. But these are the impressions I get.

As a Muslim woman alHamdulillaah, I want to reply to you.

Islaam teaches us to love the good and hate the bad.

Loyalty to Islaam is a must for both men and women. For anyone who doubts even for a second about the truth of Islaam would not be considered as a Muslim.

Since that is in the heart, then each person knows what is in his own heart and judges himself accordingly.

As for loyalty as in obeying the Rules Revealed by God, the heart has a big play in that also.

If the person does not remind himself of Judgement Day, then he will keep on committing sins without thinking twice.

So in that context, loyalty to the Rules of Islaam is by reminding oneself that those Rules are Revealed by God.

There are all sorts of sins, like back-biting, verbal abuse, physical abuse, drinking alcohol, drug use, etc.

I think you might find a variety of these sins spread amongst some men and women these days.

Back to my first point, the Muslim is ordered to love good and hate evil. So, we must love good people and we must help bad people out of their bad habits if they will listen to us.

Among the Muslims there are sinners and there are pious.

That goes for both men and women.

Specifically discussing fidelity - it also depends on the state of the person. If that person is always reminding themself to obey God then they will not fall into such sins as fornication and adultery.

That again applies for both males and females.

In Islaam, the more Rules you obey, the easier it becomes for you to leave out sins. For example, the one who learns that hating the sins is an obligation, will be more inclined while committing a sin such as stealing, to realise that feeling happy with what they committed is also sinful. And to brag about it to friends is also sinful.

So just by committing one sin, a number of sins could occur as a result. Why do that to yourself - if you just leave out that sin, you will be free of the other sins that may accompany it.

So, following Islaam completely is possible and that shows that it is a Divine Religion.

As for the covering of a woman, it has nothing got to do with fashion. It allows the woman to cover what she is ordered by God to cover in front of those males who are not her immediate relatives or her spouse.

By the way, a male has also to cover between the navel and the knees in front of all except his spouse.

If one truly follows Islaam in all its Rules and manners, that person would be among the most liked people in the world.

Prophet MuHammad is a great example of this. All his people - even the ones who did not believe that he was a Prophet & chose to remain on their blasphemy, knew he was not a liar or a cheater or an-illmannered, infidel person. They all regarded him as respectable and could never find a fault in his manners, Sallallaahu 3alaihi wa sallam.

Prophet MuHammad was even merciful with blasphemers.

Once, Prophet MuHammad was resting in a place and a blasphemer put his sword on Prophet Muhammad and said, "Who will prevent me from you."

Prophet MuHammad said, "Allaah."

The sword dropped and Prophet MuHammad took it and said, "And who will prevent me from you."

The blasphemer said, "Take."

Prophet MuHammad let him go.

That blasphemer went to his people and told them about Prophet Muhammad and they all embraced Islaam.

Had the Prophet been ill-mannered and mean, then people would not have payed any attention to him.

And how about the story of a great pious man. Once, a blasphemer asked him, "Who is better? You or a dog?"

The pious man did not get angry because Prophet Muhammad told us do not get angry. The pious man answered with humbleness and kindness, "If I make it on the Bridge over Hellfire, then I am better."

The blasphemer then embraced Islaam by saying "No one is God except Allaah and MuHammad (Abul Qaasim) is the Messenger of God."

Islaam, the only Religion of all Prophets sent by God, contains the Rules by which the humans are ordered to live by.

No man-made law can ever compare to it in fairness and justice.

Moreover, since humans are so weak and forgetful and often misjudge situations, they are in no position to object to the Rules ordained by God, the One Who Knows all.

Samsparky,

Thank you very much for your reply and thought put into the reply. I like what you said about the prophet Mohammed and the sword icon_smile.gif. I also learned something new, I didn't know Muslim men had to cover themselves from the navel to the knee when in front of other women besides their wife.

Nairam, nice to see you icon_smile.gif

When you do decide to become Muslim in shaa' Allaah - I hope you know how to become Muslim.

All you need to do is say with your tongue while believing in your heart "No one is God except Allaah & MuHammad (Abul Qassem) is the Messenger of God."

The reason why I put Abul Qassem in brackets after Prophet MuHammad's name is that some people are not yet able to pronounce the Arabic H sound in MuHammad, hence they would call Prophet MuHammad by his other name: Abul Qassem (the father of Qaasem) during saying the Testification of Faith to become Muslim. If the person is unable to pronounce the Arabic Q in Qaasem then they replace the Q with g as Yemeni Arabs do - g like in the word glue.

The Testification of Faith can be said even when one is alone and if one says it before he sees the Angel of death then he will be saved and will have died as Muslim and will receive Everlasting Paradise after Judgement Day.

Among the countless attributes of Allaah, there are some which were mentioned repeatedly in the Qur’aan.

The Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم concentrated on teaching these particular attributes to the people, using the terms mentioned in the Qur’aan (naSS نَصّ) as well as the terms carrying the same meaning (ma^naa مَعْنَى).

Accordingly, the scholars deduced that it is obligatory upon every accountable Muslim to know these particular attributes. They are thirteen (13).

Many scholars mentioned that knowing those thirteen (13) attributes is a personal obligation.

The later scholars took special care to explicitly mention this obligation, such as as-sanoosiyy (the author of The Sanoosiyy Creed), al-FuDaaliyy (a Maalikiyy scholar), ash-shurnoobiyy (also a Maalikiyy scholar), and others among those later scholars. Among the heads of the scholars of the Salaf who explicitly named these attributes and indicated that it was obligatory for every accountable Muslim to know them was Imaam Abu Hanifah.

He mentioned this in his book, Al-Fiqh Al-Akbar.

These thirteen (13) attributes are:

1. Existence (al-Wujood).

Allaah exists and is not similar to the other things which exist. Allah’s Existence is without a beginning, without an end, and without a place.

In surat Ibraaheem, 10, Allah said:

أَفِي اللّهِ شَكٌّ

This Ayah means: [The existence of Allaah is indubitable.] Allaah exists without a doubt.

2. Oneness (al-WaHdaniyyah).

‘Allaah is One’ means Allaah does not have a partner with Him in Godhood.

Allaah said in suratul-Ambiyaa’, 22:

لَوْ كَانَ فِيهِمَا آلِهَةٌ إِلَّا اللَّهُ لَفَسَدَتَا

This ayah means: [Had there been Gods for the heaven and Earth other than Allaah, they (heaven and Earth) would not have existed.]

3. Eternity (al-Qidam, i.e., al-Azaliyyah).

Allaah’s Existence is without a beginning. This means His Existence was not preceded by non-existence.

4. Everlastingness (al-Baqaa').

Allaah’s Existence does not have an end. He does not cease to exist.

Allaah said in surat al-Hadeed, 3:

هُوَ الْأَوَّلُ وَالْآخِرُ

This Ayah means: [Allaah is the One Whose Existence is without a beginning and without an end.]

5. Non-neediness of others (al-Qiyaamu bin-Nafs).

This means that Allaah is not in need of anything, and everything else needs Him.

In surat Aal ^Imraan, 97, Allaah said:

فَإِنَّ الله غَنِيٌّ عَنِ الْعَالَمِينَ

This Ayah means: [Allaah does not need any of the worlds.]

6. Power (al-Qudrah).

Allaah has Power over all the creations. Allaah is not powerless over anything, as Allaah attributed to Himself in surat al-Baqarah, 109:

إِنَّ اللّهَ عَلَى كُلِّ شَيْءٍ قَدِيرٌ

This Ayah means: [Allaah has the perfect Power over all things.]

7. Will (al-Iraadah).

Everything that Allaah willed in eternity for it to exist must come into existence at the time which Allaah willed for it to exist. Nothing will exist unless Allaah willed for it to exist.

suratat-takweer, 29:

وَمَا تَشَاؤُونَ إِلَّا أَن يَشَاءَ اللَّهُ رَبُّ الْعَالَمِينَ

Means: [You do not will anything except by the Will of Allaah, the Lord of the Worlds.]

8. Knowledge (al-^Ilm).

Allaah knows everything; nothing is hidden from Him, as He attributed to Himself in surat al-‘Anfaal, 75:

إِنَّ اللّهَ بِكُلِّ شَيْءٍ عَلِيمٌ

This ayah means: [Allaah has the perfect knowledge of everything.]

9. Hearing (as-Sam^).

Allaah hears all hearable things without an ear or any other instrument.
No hearable thing is hidden from Him.

Allaah said in surat ash-shooraa, 11:

وَهُوَ السَّمِيعُ البَصِيرُ

This ayah means: [Allaah is attributed with Hearing and Sight.]

10. Sight (al-Basar).

Allaah sees all seeable things without the need of a pupil (an eye) or light.

Nothing is hidden from Him.
(surat ash-shooraa, 11)

11. Life (al-Hayaah).

Allaah is attributed with an eternal and everlasting Life, which is not similar to our life.

Allaah’s Life does not have a beginning or an end, and is not a combination of body and soul.

Allaah attributed Life to Himself in suratal-Baqarah, 255:

اللّهُ لاَ إِلَـهَ إِلاَّ هُوَ الْحَيُّ الْقَيُّومُ

This ayah means: [No one is God but Allaah, the One Who is attributed with Life and is not in need of anything.]

12. Speech (al-Kalaam).

Allaah’s Speech (Kalaam) is an eternal and everlasting attribute of the Self (Reality) of Allaah and is not a letter, sound or language.

Allaah attributed Speech (Kalaam) to Himself in surat an-Nisaa’, 164:

وَكَلَّمَ اللّهُ مُوسَى تَكْلِيماً

It means: [Allah spoke to Musa with His eternal Speech (Kalaam).]

13. Non-Resemblance to the Creation (al-Mukhaalafatu lil-Hawaadith).

Allaah is clear of any of the attributes of the creation, because the attributes of the creations indicate that the creatures are in need of a Creator. Had Allaah been attributed with any of these attributes, He would have been in need of one who created Him, and Allaah is clear of that.

The proof that Allaah does not resemble the creations is the verse of the Qur’aan, surat ash-shooraa, 11:

لَيْسَ كَمِثْلِهِ شَيْءٌ

It means: [Nothing resembles Allaah in any way whatsoever.]
samsparky
NOTE: When the word “Self” or “Dhaat” is used about Allaah, it does not mean body or shape. It means the Reality of Allaah (which does not resemble the creations and can not be imagined – no one knows it except Allaah.)

Eternity here means without a beginning. That is, it didn’t have non-existence before its existence. That is, it was not created.

Since eternity is confirmed to the Self (Dhaat) of Allaah, then His attributes are eternal, because a created attribute entails that the attributed self is created.

This statement means that the thing which is attributed with a created attribute must itself be a created thing.

It is not permissible that Allaah would be attributed with a created attribute.

Yet, some of those who liken Allaah to the creatures say that Allaah’s Speech (Kalaam) is letters and sounds.

Their saying is blasphemy because it entails likening Allaah to the creatures (creations).

Some of those go even further in their absurdity and say, “Allaah’s Speech is letters and sounds, however, these letters and sounds are eternal,” i.e., have no beginning.

Their first statement contradicts their second one!

Obviously those people do not have sound mental judgement.

By simple observation, one knows that letters and sounds are created.

In saying the word ‘bismi’ one observes beyond doubt that the ‘b’ sound was pronounced before the ‘s’ sound and the ‘s’ sound was pronounced before the ‘m’.

What happens in succession definitely has a beginning and is a creation.

It is confirmed by the intellectual proof and by the textual proof that the Self of Allaah is eternal, i.e., without a beginning.

Since the Self of Allaah is eternal, then it follows that the attributes of Allaah are also eternal.

In both of his books, al-Fiqh al-AbsaT and al-Fiqh al-Akbar, Imaam Abu Haneefah said:

قال الإمام ابو حنيفه
(وصفاتُهُ غَيْرُ مُحْدَثَةٍ ولا مَخْلُوقَةٍ. ومَنْ زَعَمَ أَنَّها مُحْدَثَةٌ أَوْ مَخْلُوقَةٌ أَوْ شَكَّ أَوْ تَوَقَّفَ فَهُوَ كافرٌ)

It means: “Allaah’s attributes are not created. Whoever claims that the attributes of Allaah are created, or doubts it, or hesitates about whether or not they are created is a blasphemer.”
samsparky
The meaning of Ash-hadu an-na MuHammadar-Rasoolullaah is:

“I know, believe, and declare that MuHammad, the son of ^Abdullaah, who is the son of ^Abdul-MuTTalib, who is the son of Haashim, who is the son of ^Abdu-Manaaf, from the tribe of Quraysh, Sallallaahu ^alayhi wa sallam, is the slave of Allaah and His Messenger to all the humans and jinn.”

Prophet MuHammad صلى الله عليه وسلم is from the clan of Haashim, i.e., his lineage goes back to Haashim, the son of ^Abdu Manaaf.

The clan of Haashim is a branch of the tribe of Quraysh, the most prestigious and honorable tribe of the Arabs.

The tribe of Quraysh goes back in lineage to Prophet Ismaa^eel عليه السَّلاَم, the son of Prophet Ibraaheem عليه السَّلاَم

Prophet MuHammad صلى الله عليه وسلم is the slave of Allaah and His Messenger to all humans and jinn.

He was not sent only to the Arabs or only to the non-Arabs, or solely to the humans.

Rather, Allaah sent him as a Messenger to all the humans and jinn.

Surat al-Furqaan, 1:

لِيَكُونَ لِلْعَالَمِينَ نَذِيراً

(liyakoona lil^aalameena natheeraa)

Here, al^aalameen means the humans and jinn.

One must believe he was born in Makkah and sent as a Messenger therein; he immigrated to al-Madeenah and was buried therein; and he was truthful in everything he told about and conveyed from Allaah.

Surat an-Najm, Ayahs 3 and 4:

وَمَا يَنطِقُ عَنِ الْهَوَى

إِنْ هُوَ إِلَّا وَحْيٌ يُوحَى

The meaning is that all what the Prophet conveyed from Allaah is from Revelation.

Prophet MuHammad صلى الله عليه وسلم was born in Makkah in the Year of the Elephant, the year when Abrahah led an army and some elephants in an (unsuccessful) attempt to destroy the Ka^bah.

Allaah destroyed Abrahah and his army, as described in the Qur’aan in Suratul-Fil.

(For online Qur’aanic text please visit: http://talkaboutislam.com/koran/)

Prophet MuHammad first received the Revelation in Makkah when he was forty (40) years old.

He stayed in Makkah for thirteen (13) years after receiving the Revelation, then immigrated to al-Madeenah and lived there for ten (10) years.

He died and was buried in al-Madeenah in Lady ^Aa’ishah’s chamber in the eleventh (11th) year after the hijrah.

He was sixty-three (63) years old.

Knowing the lineage of Prophet MuHammad صلى الله عليه وسلم back to ^Abdu Manaaf, and that he was born in Makkah and died in al-Madeenah is an important matter; there is a big probability for this to be among the Personal Obligatory Knowledge.
samsparky
Among what the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم informed us are: the torture in the grave and the enjoyment therein; the questioning of the two Angels, Munkar and Nakeer;

After the person is buried, his soul which separated from his body at death, returns to his body.

Two angels come to him.

One angel is named Munkar and the other named Nakeer.

They will ask the dead person about his Lord, his Prophet, and his Religion. (That is, what he used to believe during his life on earth.)

They have a frightening appearance.

The blasphemer will be extremely frightened of them.

However, the God-fearing believer does not fear them.

أَلا إِنَّ أَوْلِيَاء اللّهِ لاَ خَوْفٌ عَلَيْهِمْ وَلاَ هُمْ يَحْزَنُونَ
Surat Younous, Verse 62.

The people in their graves are two types.

One type experience enjoyments in the grave.

Their graves are widened and illuminated.

These are the obedient and forgiven Muslims.

The other type will be tortured in their graves, and these are also two categories.

One are the blasphemers who will face the torture of the grave continually until their bodies decay.

Then after their bodies decay, their souls will be taken to a place in the seventh earth called Sijjeen, where they will be tortured until the Day of Judgment.

The other category are the sinful Muslims whom Allaah did not forgive.

They will be tortured in their graves for a certain period.

However, the torture will not continue for them until the Day of Judgment.

Once their bodies decay, their souls are suspended between the earth and the sky.

They face their remaining torture which they deserve in the Hereafter (except those whom Allaah forgives).

Believing in the torture of the grave and the enjoyments of the grave is an obligation.

The one who categorically denies the torture of the grave is a blasphemer (It is belying the Prophet and the Qur’aan).

Resurrection (Ba^th);

The Resurrection is the rising of the dead from their graves.

One must believe in the Resurrection.

Allaah recreates the bodies that decayed and returns the souls to them.

Then the dead will rise out of their graves.

Assembly (Hashr);

After the Resurrection, the humans, animals, and jinn will be assembled (gathered by the angels) to one place (the changed Earth).
samsparky
Among what the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم informed us are:

The Day of Judgment (Qiyaamah);

It is obligatory to believe in the Day of Judgment.

Its length is 50,000 years of what we count.

The Day of Judgment begins when the people leave their graves and lasts until those whom Allaah willed for them to go to Paradise enter it, and those whom Allaah willed for them to go to Hellfire enter it.

Presentation of the Deeds (Hisaab);

This means that on the Day of Judgment every person will be presented with his deeds.

Every person will be handed his book in which the angels wrote what he did in this life.

On that day, some will be delighted with their books and others will be sad.

Reward (Thawaab);

The Reward refers to the reward for the believers in the Hereafter, in return for the good things they did in this life.

This reward is by both body and soul.

Punishment (^Adhaab);

The punishment refers to the punishment that one receives in the Hereafter in return for the sins one did in this life.

The punishment is also by body and soul.

The Balance (Meezaan);

In the Hereafter, the deeds of the people will be weighed on a balance.

The good deeds will be weighed in one pan and the bad deeds in the other.

If the pan of the good deeds is heavier than the pan of the bad ones, the person is a winner.

He will be saved.

If the pan of the bad deeds is heavier, then he deserves punishment.

On the Day of Judgment, the blasphemer will have nothing in the pan for the good deeds.

Hellfire (Naar);

Hellfire is a place where the blasphemers and part of the sinful Muslims are tortured in the Hereafter.

It is a physical fire, extremely hot; it does not get extinguished and it does not come to an end.

The blasphemers stay in continuous torture in Hellfire.

Their torture will never lesson or stop.

However, the sinful Muslims who enter Hellfire do not remain there endlessly.

They eventually will be taken out and admitted into Paradise.

They will not remain in Hellfire, because Allaah does not equate between the Muslim and the blasphemer.

The Bridge (SiraaT);

It is obligatory to believe in the Bridge (SiraaT).

It is a bridge stretching over Hellfire to which all the humans will come.

It begins at the changed Earth and ends before Paradise.

Some fall into Hellfire at the very beginning of the bridge and these are the blasphemers.

Some of the believers walk on the Bridge, then fall into Hellfire.

The rest are saved.

Thanks for the info,sam! biggrin.gif

You are very welcome biggrin.gif

The Basin (HawD);

The basin of our Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم is a huge body of water.

Its water comes from the water of Paradise.

Every Prophet has a basin from which his nation drinks.

The nation of Prophet MuHammad صلى الله عليه وسلم drinks from his Basin before entering Paradise.

May Allaah grant us that.

The Intercession (Shafaa^ah);

Intercession is defined as asking for good things of someone for others.

In the Hereafter, the prophets, the pious Muslims, the angels, and the martyrs intercede for some of the sinful Muslims, and as a result, they will be forgiven by Allaah.

Prophet MuHammad صلى الله عليه وسلم performs the major intercession.*

*On the Day of Judgment, the sinful Muslims go to Prophet Adam عليه السَّلاَم to ask him to intercede for them to be relieved from the extreme heat of the sun. He directs them to Prophet NuH عليه السَّلاَم, saying, “He is your father after your father.” Prophet NuH عليه السَّلاَم directs them to go to Prophet Ibraaheem عليه السَّلاَم who directs them to Prophet Musa عليه السَّلاَم, who directs them to Prophet ^Eesaa عليه السَّلاَم, who in turn directs them to Prophet MuHammad صلى الله عليه وسلم who intercedes for them.

Paradise (Jannah);

It is an obligation to believe in Paradise, which is now existing.

Paradise is above the seventh sky.

The ceiling of Paradise is the ^Arsh and is much larger than Paradise.

Imaam Abu Mansoor alBaghdaadiyy narrated that Imaam Ali, cousin of the Prophet, said what means:

“Allaah created the ^Arsh as an indication of His Power and did not take it as a place for Himself.”

Paradise has many levels.

Its uppermost level is called the Firdaws الفِرْدَوْس and the ^Arsh is above it.

Seeing Allaah, ta^aalaa, with the eye in the Hereafter, without Allaah having a form or being in a place or direction, different from the way a creation is seen;

This is a known element of the creed of Muslims, and is a point of difference between the people of Ahlus-Sunnah and some deviant factions.

We must believe that the believers, while in Paradise, see Allaah with their eyes.

Allaah empowers their eyes to see Him.

They will see Allaah—not the way the creatures are seen—rather they see Allaah without Allaah being in a direction.

They see Allaah without having a distance between them and Him.

This was explicitly stated by Imaam Abu Haneefah in al-Fiqh al-Akbar, and other scholars.

Seeing Allaah is the greatest enjoyment the occupants of Paradise will experience.

May Allaah grant us this.

The dwelling forever in Paradise or Hellfire;

It is obligatory to believe that the blasphemers will dwell forever in Hellfire, and those who enter Paradise will be there forever.

This was explicitly stated in the Qur’aan and explicitly mentioned in the Hadeeth of the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم.

This is a matter which is known to both the scholars and the lay Muslims.

The Basin (HawD);

Thanks extra hour, that is a huge compliment.

It is said there are 2 types of scholars - those who teach by word & deed and the greatest example is Prophet MuHammad. And those who teach by word.

I am not even a scholar yet icon_smile.gif I just know that I will be asked about what I did with my life on this earth and on that great day is where the success is true success.

The belief in Allaah’s Angels,

It is obligatory to believe in the angels, i.e., to believe that they exist.

They are bodies which Allaah created from light.

They are not males or females.

They do not eat or drink.

They are never disobedient to Allaah; they always obey His orders.

Messengers,

We must believe in all the prophets, those of whom we know and those of whom we do not know.

They were numerous.

The first of them was Adam عليه السَّلاَم.

The last was our prophet MuHammad صلى الله عليه وسلم.

Some of them were prophets and messengers and others were prophets but not messengers.

The prophet who is a messenger is one to whom Allaah revealed new Laws differing from the Laws of the messenger before him.

The prophet who was not a messenger also received the Revelation from Allaah, in which he was ordered to follow the Laws of the messenger before him.

Both the prophets and the messengers were ordered to convey their message.

Some falsely defined the prophet who is not a messenger as: “the one who received the Revelation of a new set of laws, but was not ordered to convey them to others.”

This is a serious error which one categorically must not adopt.

And Books,

It is obligatory to believe in all the Revealed Books.

They are one hundred and four (104).

The most famous are four (4): the Tawraah, the Zabur, the Injeel, and the Qur’aan.

Other than these for famous Books, it is narrated that fifty (50) different sheets were revealed to Prophet Sheeth عليه السَّلاَم, thirty (30) to Prophet Idrees عليه السَّلاَم, ten (10) to Prophet Ibraaheem عليه السَّلاَم, and ten (10) other than the Tawraah to Prophet Musa عليه السَّلاَم.

And destiny (qadar)-both good and evil;

The Arabic term ‘qadar’ can mean ‘destining’ and it can mean ‘destiny’.

It is obligatory to believe that everything that happens in this universe happens according to the Will of Allaah, by the Creating of Allaah, and by the Destining (Qadar) of Allaah.

Destining, when used to mean the eternal attribute of Allaah, means Allaah’s managing things and making them occur in accordance with His eternal Will and Knowledge.

In other words, it is making things the way they are.

However, destiny (qadar) is used in the above bold text to mean the created thing.

It refers to that which happens according to the Destining (Qadar) of Allaah.

This is why it is divided into what is good and what is evil.

It is not permissible to say about Destining (Qadar) which is the attribute of His Self, that some is good and some is evil.

The Destining (Qadar) of Allaah is good.

However, as to that which happens, i.e., the created things, some of them are good and some of them are evil.

1: Why is it, it seems generally speaking, Islamic women are so loyal to Islam and Islamic men?

- Not only Muslim women, but Muslim men are required to be loyal to Islam. All Muslims, regardless of sexes MUST be loyal to our faith. No quarter about that.

- Muslim women only subservient to God, followed by her husband & her father, basically two most important figures in her life. However, Muslim men are subservient to God, followed closely with his mother, father & later wife.

Pls noted that subservient to a male figure does not mean the Muslim women will be subjected to her husbands whims, at most cases shown, married Muslim men always lamented they're being henpecked by their wives (constant nagging, endless complaining) & the fact that the purse string more or less controlled by the womenfolk.

QUOTE
2: Is it just a false impression I have?

Sort of.

QUOTE
3: Being that I place very high premium on loyalty, placing it above money, sex, status reward and everything else short of God, my personality leads me to believe the attributes of fidelity in Islamic women (if my impression is not false) mystically cast mirror reflection on some greater and divine truth essential to the nature and religion of Islam. What would a Muslim say to this or about their own opinions on the fidelity of Islamic women? (I've heard that the Hindus believe when a peoples women go to hell so to hell goes that society and people)

For a Muslim woman who continue to keep her honor above all else, she's surely beloved by God. Being a good & honest Muslim, a loyal & faithful wife, a good mother to her children, a model example to society around her .... the very virtue & essence of good Muslimah.

QUOTE

The head covering, or hijab comes in many forms, depending on varieties of Islamic cultures. I myself prefer Muslim women who covered herself, because it gives off an image "I'm a Muslim woman, Proud of who I am" & of demure Muslim lass.

Below are some images of Muslim-Malay women with hijab.

Oh maybe I'm mistaken then. I though Palestinians were semetic but not Arabs.

Prophet Jesus was born in Palestine but he is not Arab. The original Bible was Revealed in the ancient language syriac - which corresponds to ancient greek.

MuHammad, Sallallaahu ^alayhi wa sallam, is the last of the prophets and the best of all the children of Adam.

Prophet MuHammad صلى الله عليه وسلم is the last prophet Allaah sent.

No prophet will come after him.

Although Prophet ^Eesaa عليه السَّلاَم will descend from the sky before the Day of Judgement, he received the Revelation of Prophethood before MuHammad صلى الله عليه وسلم, and when he descends he will rule with the Laws of Prophet MuHammad صلى الله عليه وسلم.

The last revealed prophet is Prophet MuHammad صلى الله عليه وسلم, as was clearly stated in the Qur’aan in Surat al-AHzaab, Verse 40 which specifically says that Prophet MuHammad صلى الله عليه وسلم is the last of the prophets:

مَّا كَانَ مُحَمَّدٌ أَبَا أَحَدٍ مِّن رِّجَالِكُمْ وَلَكِن رَّسُولَ اللَّهِ وَخَاتَمَ النَّبِيِّينَ
(ma kana mouhammadoun aba ahadin min rijalikoum walakin rasoula allahi wakhatama alnnabiyyin)

It means: [MuHammad is not the father of any of your men, rather he is the Messenger of Allaah and the seal of the prophets.]

Anyone who claims that a prophet will be revealed after Prophet MuHammad صلى الله عليه وسلم is a blasphemer.

For example there are some who claim that a man by the name of Ghulaam AHmad received Prophethood after Prophet MuHammad صلى الله عليه وسلم.

Ghulaam AHmad is from Qaadiyaan and lived about 100 years ago.

He claimed Prophethood for himself, and some misguided people believed him.

His followers are known as the Qaadiyaaniyyah.

Sometimes, they refer to themselves as AHmadiyyah.

They are blasphemers for believing in the religious permissibility of some people receiving the Revelation after Prophet MuHammad صلى الله عليه وسلم.

Moreover our Prophet, MuHammad صلى الله عليه وسلم, is the best of all the prophets.

After him in status are Prophets Ibraaheem عليه السَّلاَم, then Musa عليه السَّلاَم, then ^Eesaa عليه السَّلاَم, then NuH عليه السَّلاَم.

May Allaah raise their ranks all.

Yes, I'll like to find out the tradition of weddings in your country for example. What are the roles of the bride and groom, and what are the preparations, rituals and exchange of vows like?

Most Muslims never blow themselves up. And for those that do, it's a tactic in a broader strategy that usualy has ends of a political goal. And every Muslim group that employs that tactic is not the same. The Palestinians, living in what resembles "reservations" the U.S. threw Amerindians onto, and the gated "ghettos" that the Italian Catholics forced Jews into, they are using what material means they have to fight a superiorly armed Israeli force.

Given the complex historical relations in between Israelis and Palestinanians. I personally find the Palestian cause less akin to Al Qaida and much more akin to the Irish historical fight with the Scottish Protestant (as well British) decendants in Northern Ireland.

Buddhist, it might be added, are not with out their armed struggle in Tibet. One of the outfits was led by a Buddhist Nun.

Well, the marriage contract is verbal and then they do it on paper for the government and all that.

But for example, the bride says to the groom "I give myself to you in marriage" then the bridegroom says "I accept you in marriage" and that must happen in front of 2 Islamically valid witnesses. Then they are married.

A lot of people have a feast and invite their relatives on their wedding day. And Islamically the relative must go to the wedding banquet if invited unless there is something sinful going on in it then they are excused.

About
The AsiaFinest Islamic Society was set up to provide a vehicle for committed AsiaFinest Muslims to combine their knowledge, skills and efforts for the benefit of one another and AsiaFinest chatters as a whole, through the promotion of Islam and Islamic values.

Islam and Muslims
Islam is a religion with a spiritual message that connects man with his one, true Creator. Through consciousness of Him Islam dissipates moral disease such as greed, egotism and self-indulgence.
AsiaFinest Islamic Society realises that at present many Muslims are absorbed in the stale historic debates and distractions with minor issues, which have held them back for centuries. These debates have little relevance to other AF chatters or the essence of the true Islamic faith. Instead, AsiaFinest Islamic Society sees Islam as a dynamic force, which inspires its followers to actively engage in society, bringing to society a sincere concern for its betterment and a message of tolerance, peace and optimism.

AsiaFinest Islamic Society wants to assist Muslims in their desire to live up to the teachings of their faith. Islam inspires its adherents to broaden their outlook and strengthen ties with their creator. A realisation of the deeper meaning to life, the importance of intentions and the wider consequences of actions leads to a shift in the character of a God-conscious Muslim. He or she becomes more sincere, thoughtful, responsible and caring.

We hear much talk these days of patriotism, and from some prominent journalists, the accusation that all Muslims are disloyal and even constitute a fifth column in this world. We cannot deny that these hateful sentiments find support in the violent behaviour of some misguided Muslims, but they number no more than a handful. On the basis of this tiny number it is inconceivable that an entire minority, two million in population, should be labelled "disloyal"- this is mere hatemongering. What we must not overlook is the deeper meaning of patriotism. Many people, through for instance, their avoidance of taxes, show their greatest loyalty lies towards their own selves and to their comfortable lives: they serve their personal interests above those of the greater society. AsiaFinest Islamic Society on the other hand, assists Muslims to live up to Islam and so become motivated towards a sincere concern and desire to help the wider society. This is a deep and genuine patriotism.

If there is alcohol for example at the Muslims' wedding then the relatives are allowed to not come.

Sinful Muslims are allowed to get married but they are not encouraged to have sinful things in their wedding or even to continue committing sins.

Wedding presents can range a lot. They can be stuff for the house, or for the bride and bridegroom.

Usually the wedding is celebrated for one day lol.

The dowry can be anything that has a value e.g. a house, car, money.

The 2 to get married must learn the rules pertaining to married people before they get married, e.g. how the marriage contract operates, how it gets invalidated etc.

Yes there are engagement parties too.

Moreover, it is obligatory to believe that every prophet of Allaah must be attributed with truthfulness, trustworthiness, and intelligence.

This means that every prophet of Allaah is truthful.

A prophet does not lie—not even one single lie—neither before Prophethood nor after Prophethood.

Every one of them is trustworthy.

He does not betray, neither before Prophethood nor after Prophethood.

Every one of them is intelligent and able to produce the proofs to discredit the blasphemous creeds and the unlawful doings.

The prophets are the most intelligent of all the creations.

Consequently, lying, dishonesty, vileness, stupidity, and dullness are impossible to be among their attributes.

A prophet does not commit any vileness, such as using obscenities frequently.

He does not act in a stupid manner; it is impossible that any of the prophets of Allaah be attributed with dullness.

As well, the prophets of Allaah are clear of repulsive attributes which detract others from them—whether in their manners or in their bodies.

Hence, they are clear of all diseases which disgust others.

They are clear of cowardice, rather they are the bravest.

They are clear of withholding the message which Allaah ordered them to convey.

They must also be attributed with impeccability, i.e., they are protected from ever committing blasphemy, enormous sins (kabaa’ir) and the small, abject sins before and after Prophethood.

No prophet of Allaah ever committed blasphemy—neither before nor after Prophethood.

What some claim about Prophet Ibraaheem عليه السَّلاَم, i.e., that at one point in time he worshipped the star, then the moon, then the sun, is a total fabrication.

Prophet Ibraaheem عليه السَّلاَم never worshipped other than Allaah.

The verse in the Qur’aan some try to use to back their false statement does not have that meaning.

When Prophet Ibraaheem عليه السَّلاَم said “haadhaa Rabbee?!” (referring to the sun, moon, and star) he was not stating his agreement with his people in worshipping those things.

Rather his statement was to negate and oppose what they said.

This is a form of expression in Arabic, called negative interrogative, (استفهام إنكارىّ) (i.e., a way of expressing one’s strong denial of a matter by posing a question which clearly shows that the matter is ridiculous or totally unacceptable.)

samsparky
Likewise, prophets are protected from committing enormous sins, both before and after Prophethood.

Hence, when Musa عليه السَّلاَم killed that kaafir (non-Muslim) in Egypt, it was not an enormous sin.

Musa عليه السَّلاَم neither intended to kill that man when he hit him nor thought he would die as a result of his punch.

The reason Prophet Musa عليه السَّلاَم regretted his action was that he fought before he was ordered by Allaah to do so.

Prophets are also protected from committing small, mean sins, like stealing a morsel of bread or stealing a single grape.

These are small sins, but they reflect a certain meanness.

Prophets do not commit such sins both before and after Prophethood.

From this, we know that the sin of Prophet Adam عليه السَّلاَم was not an enormous sin.

Rather, it was a small sin, that does not include meanness, as was stated by Imaam al-Ash^ariyy and others.

On the other hand, they might commit other small sins. However, they are immediately guided to repent before others imitate them.

Prophets are not protected from committing a small sin which is not a mean one.

However, should a prophet commit such a sin, he is immediately guided to repent of it before others follow him in doing it.

As such, we know that the claim of some that Prophet Yousuf wanted to fornicate with the woman of al-^Azeez is totally untrue.

Wanting this is a mean act and is non-befitting of a prophet.

The ayah 24 of Surat Yousuf which some use to try to back their false statement regarding Yousuf does not mean that Prophet Yousuf wanted to fornicate with her.

In reality, this verse means that the woman attempted to adulterize with Prophet Yousuf and that had he not been protected by Allaah, Who would later bestow Prophethood on him, he would have attempted to fornicate.

This means that he did not attempt in the first place, because Allaah protected him by having eternally chosen him for the status of Prophethood.

Looking lustfully at a marriageable woman is a matter the prophets do not commit, let alone committing the sin of attempting fornication.

This kind of ignorant statement are replete & practically littered every Internet forums.

Islam do not justified suicide bombings, those who carried them out are whether misled, or misinterpreted the greater meanings of jihad.

The history is full of suicide bombers ... surprise, surprise ... pioneered by NON-MUSLIMS!

In WWII, fanatical Japanese pilots formed the dreadful Kamikaze squadrons, piloting bomb laden planes & rammed Allied naval vassals with no regards to their lives. In their Pacific campaign against encroaching determined US Marines, some desperate Japanese soldiers being known to strap oneself with bombs & blew themselves up against incoming American light tanks. These suicidal tendencies are specially encouraged by Japanese military establishment during that time.

In Korean War, both South & North Koreans who fought each other had employed suicidal tactics (limited though) such as strapped oneself with explosives & blow oneself against enemy tanks or fortifications.

In Vietnam War, North Vietnam suicidal volunteers to armed oneself with explosives & usually employed to infiltrate enemy bases or command centers before blowing up.

It took the Sri Lanka's most feared, sophisticated, successful, ruthless guerilla outfit, known as Tamil Tigers to successfully employed suicide bombings as viable military tactics. Used in every way imaginable, including assasinations of top political & military leaders, the Tigers also managed to kill India Prime Minister, late Rajiv Gandhi in suicide bombing (basically to teach Indian Govt. not to meddle into Tigers war with Sri Lankan Govt.).

In desperation, Shiite Islamic fighters in civil war torn Lebanon (1980s) pick up the tactics & employed them for the 1st time against militia supported by Israel & Israel troops. Sufficed to say, as usage of suicide bombing become widespread, some top Shiite ulemas decreed that suicide bombing can be justified for the sake of jihad.

These dangerous & misguided interpretations creeped into Sunni Muslims & clouded a fanatical few.

Now, these suicide bombings tactics being used not only against their enemies, but against Muslim Shiites & Sunnis.

Can one justified a bombing of Shiite mosque & innocent Shiites by a lone Sunni suicide bomber? Or a bombing of Sunnis mosque & innocent Sunnis by a lone Shiite suicide bomber?

Islam has been hijacked by foreign influences, twisted by misguided few, & terrorised from within.

We must stop this. This is our jihad. Let no more our Muslim youths threw their precious lives to become suicide bombers & eternally found their souls condemned to hell.

May Allah guide us all

Wassalam.

Following the Imam in Prayer

Everyone who follows an imam while performing prayer--the Jumu^ah Prayer or other prayers--must fulfill the following obligations:

1. Not be ahead of one's imam in the standing position or in saying the opening Allahu akbar. The prayer of the follower (ma'mum) is invalid if he says his opening Allahu akbar during that of the imam. Simultaneity with the imam in other parts of the prayer is disliked (makruh), with the exception of saying: "Amin";

It is unlawful (haram) for the ma'mum to precede the imam by one integral action. One's prayer is invalidated by inexcusably preceding the imam by two consecutive integral actions which are both long or one is long and the other is short. Similarly, the ma'mum invalidates his prayer if he lags behind the imam by two integral actions without an excuse, and by more than three long integral actions despite an excuse. If the ma'mum stays behind to finish the Fatihah and during this time the imam has finished his ruku^ and two prostrations, and has sat for the tashahhud or stood up, then the ma'mum must stop reciting the Fatihah and be in unison with his imam. In addition to this, the ma'mum must perform a rak^ah after the closing salam of the imam. However, if the ma'mum finishes reciting the Fatihah before the imam has sat for the tashahhud or stood up for another rak^ah, then the ma'mum follows his own order until he catches up with the imam.

2. Know the movement of one's imam;

3. Be with one's imam in a mosque (masjid), or else within 300 cubits;

4. Not have any barrier between one (the ma'mum) and the imam which prevents one (the ma'mum) from reaching the imam;

5. Have the format of one's prayer agree with the format of the imam's prayer. For example, it is invalid for the performer of the daily obligatory prayer to follow the performer of the Funeral Prayer (Salat-al-Janazah);

6. Not disagree enormously with the imam in a recommended act (sunnah), like the sitting for the first tashahhud. If the imam does it or leaves it, then the ma'mum does it with the imam or stands up with him;

7. Have the intention to follow the imam while saying the opening Allahu akbar in the Jumu^ah Prayer, and in other prayers, before following the imam. If the ma'mum was performing the Jumu^ah Prayer without having the intention to follow the imam within the opening Allahu akbar, his prayer would be invalid. In other than the Jumu^ah Prayer, the intention to follow the imam must be in the heart before following the imam in his moves. Following the imam in his moves without the intention to follow invalidates the ma'mum's prayer. However, if one's moves agree with the imam's moves accidentally and unintentionally, one does not invalidate one's prayer. To sum up this matter: If one followed the imam's moves on purpose without an intention to pray in congregation (jama^ah), then one would invalidate his prayer whether he waited for a long or short time. However, if one waited for a long time but did not follow the imam's moves, his prayer would not be invalidated.

It is obligatory upon the imam to intend to lead the prayer in the Jumu^ah Prayer and the repeated prayer, but it is recommended (sunnah) to do that in other prayers. The repeated prayer is the prayer one reperforms after having prayed it alone because he found a person to pray jama^ah with him, or he has already prayed jama^ah but wants another person to earn the reward of jama^ah.

Invalidators of Prayer

Prayer is invalidated by:

1. Uttering even two letters or one meaningful letter unless one forgets and it is little;

2. Performing many moves, which according to some scholars are as many as what would last for the duration of one rak^ah. According to other scholars three consecutive moves invalidate the prayer. The first saying, however, has a stronger evidence;

3. Performing an excessive move;

4. Adding an extra integral which involves action;

5. Performing one move with the purpose of playing;

6. Eating and drinking except if one forgets and it is little;

7. Intending to interrupt prayer;

8. Making an intention to interrupt prayer contingent on the occurrence of an incident;

9. Hesitating about interrupting prayer;

10. The completion of an integral while the doubt persists about whether or not one established the intention to perform the prayer during the opening saying of Allahu akbar (taharrum) or doubting for a long time about this intention.

The Congregational Prayer (Jama^ah)

The Congregational Prayer (Jama^ah) is a communal obligation (fard kifayah) upon the free, residing, pubescent, and unexcused males.

In the Friday Prayer (Jumu^ah), to pray in congregation (jama^ah) is a personal obligation (fard ^ayn) upon the free, pubescent, and unexcused male inhabitants if they were forty and living in buildings, not tents.

The Friday Prayer is also obligatory upon the men who intend to stay in the town of Jumu^ah for four whole days, not counting the two days of entry and exit, and upon those who reside out of the town but can hear the resounding call of a person who is standing at its edge closest to him.

The Funeral (Janazah)

Washing, shrouding, praying for, and burying the dead Muslim is a communal obligation (fard kifayah) if he was born alive.

Shrouding and burial are obligatory for a member of the People of the Book who is a subject of the Islamic State (dhimmiyy).

Moreover, washing, shrouding, and burial are obligatory for a stillborn Muslim.

The Funeral Prayer is not performed for a dhimmiyy or the stillborn Muslim.

Whoever dies as a result of fighting the blasphemers will be shrouded in his battle clothes.

If the battle clothes are not enough, more material will be added. He will be buried, but not washed; and the Funeral Prayer will not be performed for him.

The Funeral Prayer (Salat al-Janazah)

The minimum obligatory prayer for the dead is:

1. To intend to perform the obligatory Funeral Prayer for that dead person in particular, as one is saying the opening 'Allaahu akbar'.

2. To stand while performing the Funeral Prayer, if one is able;

3. To recite the FaatiHah;

4. To say Allaahu akbar;

5. To say Allaahumma Salli ^alaa MuHammad;

6. To say Allaahu akbar;

7. To supplicate Allaah to forgive and have mercy on that dead Muslim;

8. To say Allaahu akbar;

9. To say the closing salam.

The one who performs the Funeral Prayer must satisfy the conditions and avoid the invalidators of prayer.

Thx icon_smile.gif

alHamdulillaah I'm ok. I was in lebanon about 2 weeks ago in the north. AlHamdulillaah it is not as bad as the south, in the south many people are being killed by the israelis war planes and other things.

In the north, the people are being affected more by the rising prices of petrol and many many other things.

In the north you can still hear many of the bombs - it sounds like thunder.

And also you can hear the israeli helicopters and planes - that sounds like when a plane flies past but the sound keeps going.

I guess the israelis like to terrorise the civilians.

Anyways, I hope the war stops.

And also the israelis are using weapons which are said to be internationally banned.

When you are in australia you think that such laws matter, but when you go out of the box, you realise that its all talk.

Lebanon is pretty damaged and if this continues it's gonna ba damaged even more.

It's such a tiny country without syria, I don't know why the israelis went to war with it - i guess they consider it as an easy target.

So, yea, when these things do happen, Muslims need to know what to do with the dead people.

AlHamdullilah! Shukran for answering biggthumpup.gif

My neighbors are from Lebanon too, shi'tes. they were caught with the war in Beirut, and had to escape to Damascus. She made it out of Syria and is here now. She is so shell-shocked she has refused to step out of her home since the day she's arrived.

Everyday there's an imam going to their house to pray and to keep up with the war news.

I hope the destiny of Lebanon will not be under the influence of anyone but their own. Inshallah!

Patience and Subjugating Oneself to Allah

Allah, ta^ala, said in the Qur’an

(يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُواْ اسْتَعِينُواْ بِالصَّبْرِ وَالصَّلاَةِ إِنَّ اللّهَ مَعَ الصَّابِرِينَ)

yaa ayyuhal-latheena aamanoosta^eenoo bis-sabri was-Salaati innallaaha ma^as-saabireen.

Ayah 153 of Suratul-Baqarah means: {Strengthen yourselves by patience and prayer, and know that God supports the patient people}

Patience is among the obligations of the heart.

It is of three kinds:

1. Patience in performing what Allah made obligatory.
2. Patience in avoiding what Allah made unlawful.
3. Patience with hardships and calamities.

Patience in performing the obligations: is forcing oneself to perform the obligations like praying on time, fasting the month of Ramadan, attending the circles of knowledge to learn the Islamic obligatory knowledge, and other obligations, even if one feels lazy to do them.

Patience in avoiding what Allah made unlawful: is restraining oneself from committing the sins. It takes a lot of effort to stop oneself from committing the unlawful, like leaving out the prayer, drinking alcohol, stealing, and other unlawful matters. It is one’s nature to lean towards laziness and easy coming pleasures, even if they are unlawful.

Patience with hardships and calamities: is being patient—seeking the reward from God—with what bothers one, such as pain, hardship, poverty, sadness, or other afflictions that befall the person in this life, because this world is a place of calamities, tests, and a workplace, while the Hereafter is the place for judgment. For this type of patience to take place, one needs not to act or talk in a way that reflects one’s impatience.

The Prophet, sallallahu ^alayhi wa sallam, said:

"إِنَّ اللهَ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ يَقُولُ: إِذا ابْتَلَيْتُ عَبْدِي بِحَبِيبَتَيْهِ فَصَبَرَ عَوَّضْتُهُ مِنْهُمَا الْجَنَّةَ."

Innallaha ^azza wa jalla yaqul: idha-btalaytu ^abdiya bihabibatayhi fasabara ^awwadtuhu minhumal-Jannah.

Which means: “If Allah inflicts on someone the calamity of losing one’s sight and one is patient with it, then the reward of one’s patience will be Paradise.” (Narrated by al-Bukhariyy.)

Subjugating oneself to Allah: It is obligatory upon the pubescent person to refrain from objecting to Allah and to be content with Allah's Decree and Will. Subjugating oneself to Allah is among the obligations of the heart. Objecting to Allah is a blasphemous act. Many people fall into blasphemy because they do not subjugate themselves to Allah, rather, they object to Him.

The Muslim should be patient and should make an effort to train oneself in patience to get used to it. One should also rely on Allah in all one’s matters.

I ask Allah to grant us Patience.
