Do you guys know of any successful Hmong or Mien businsses in your area? I don't wanna sound preachy, but I think Hmong owned businesses are key points in a Hmong/Mien community.
I just hope younger Hmong have goals to start a business once their out of college or even before then.

Hmong people..like all people...are getting more money with Real Estate...not just by being agents/brokers too...just investors and just looking for the right property with a bit of land to make some cash out of....while you build ur house on it etc.

this is off topic but...whatever...let's just say...mien people are like hmong people...they've been oppressed by other asians as how the hmongs were...compare to hmong people...mien people are closer related to the chinese...how do i know? they're animists practicing shamanism too, like SOME hmong clans...and when the mien shamans chant...they chant out chinese words...anyhow...i'm sure they helped fought the vietnam war too with the hmongs...because miens and hmongs used to live together too...they're a tribal group as well...just put it this way...their history are like those of the hmong's history...lost and destroyed by others...and again...they're very much unknown to others like hmong people are too...now is that clear?

i see...and mien and hmong are not the same people...they have similarities in religion and doing other things...but i'm pretty sure they did come from china as well...however, i would have to say...the miens' population is much lesser than the hmongs...i guess you can say...if you put the hmongs in place of china and put the mien in the place of hmongs...that's how much differences they have in their population...well...nah...i lied...that's too much of a number...let's just say...there are less miens than hmongs...and their tongues and cultures are fading away slowly like the hmongs too...

what’s "mien".....I wasn’t familiar with it until I looked it up and recognized what ya'll were talking about...hmong people have another way of calling mien people but I don’t know how to spell it in hmong, hmong and mien probably coexisted, we're sub-groups to each other, mien girls and women wear those long red things around their necks, in terms of musical distinguish hmong have the "qeej" and mien have the shorter version kind of like a mini one (I think)....never in my town have I met a mien person before but visually if mien people wear their traditional clothing I know who they are.
There’s lots of a successful Hmong business around where I live, I mean if you’re in business for as long as 10 years then that's considered successful right? Yes! Absolutely of course. There’s probably mien stores near where I live, maybe it’s the fact that they look like Hmong and us looking like them that it’s hard to distinguish the differences since we don’t dress in traditional clothing but in modernize wear, optimistically I think mien and hmong are doing well in the business world.

I've had many Mien friends when I was born and raised in Oakland, but I never heard of Hmong people until I moved to Sacramento... I know more history about the Mien people then the Hmong people.
