We come in all shades. Light-skinned Indians even have dark-skinned parents/siblings, or vice-versa.

Not necessarily. Skin color didn't have much to do with caste, although lower castes were usually darker since they worked outdoors more. But when it comes down to it, no matter what caste you are, if you spend 12 hour days in 100 Degree temperature, you will become dark, no doubt about it.

If a light-skinned woman can give birth to a dark-skinned kid or is married to a dark-skinned man that is the same caste as her, then obviously skin color has little to do with the caste system.


Also, the colors associated with each caste (white, red, yellow, and black) refers to spiritual qualities and not to a person's actual skin color. The color white was associated with the priestly caste (The Brahmins), because white was a color of purity/divinity. To be a Brahmin, you had to be pure and religious.

Some of the religious figures in Hinduism were thought to be very dark, like Krishna and Draupadi (who was one of the most beautiful Indian women at the time).

Most Indians I have seen are dark skinned and have uneven skin tone, especially around their eyes. Looks like they didn't bathe or something.

Living in Sacramento where there are many Indian men, I fell in love with some. When they are hot they are hot. There are so many stereotypes but when you look past them you really see how beautiful they are.

Dark skin has nothing to do with how attractive someone is, but many Indians do face problems with uneven skin tones. However, I don't see how that makes them look like they don't bathe.
