Since, other chat threads have their own military threads, I thought it best to include India. I personally follow the military news of India because I see India as a military model that Thailand should follow. The Thai air force, navy and land forces are similar in categorical organization; and in formality. Please help me post pictures of the Armed Forces of the Republic of India: Air, Land, Naval etc.

I don't mean any offense or disrespect, but I find it strange for a Thai to be interested in India's army, I was expecting an Indian to post these pics but wait a minute, its good to see you are interested in India's military, I should be honered. icon_smile.gif

Thanks for the pics.

Also great to see we're the only country on Earth to have an ocean named after us, not even more powerful countries like the U.S, China or Russia have oceans named after themselves. laugh.gif laugh.gif laugh.gif

LOL!!!

Im rather obsessed about Asian militaries. Although I view the chinese armed forces as a powerful force, their navy is miniscule in comparison to India's.

India to me is the perfect military state; I mean, excellent navy, air force, army, large population, booming economy, booming IT sector etc.

I hope Thailand continues to learn from the Indians.

Post some more pics as well!!
nikz_luv
Even I am surprised, nice thread bud. Although indian military is undergoing a modernization phase so real goodies are yet to come. Post some pics of thai army.

I do think that the Indian Navy is under-rated, but I think that Japan's is possibly/probably the best in Asia, for only claiming to have a minimal defense force or whatever they actually have a pretty formidable military.

Have no idea how good they are, might have to google first. Probably like Israel, small but one of the most sophisticated.

Japan has a stronger Navy then Isreal's, so does India.

LoL. I could care less about the Japanese Self Defense Forces. This is the India Military Thread, not Japan. If you're interested in Japan, go to the Japanese chat section.

On that topic, Japan cannot declare war, as it remains under the American orbit; and will not be allowed to commence on any militaristic policies while the United States of America has a say. Secondly, Japan's military is having enough problems competing with the growing defense budget of the People's Republic of China, which has the ability to luquidate Japan at will.

As for the Great Republic of India; India or as I would term her, MAHABHARATA, is a booming and growing nation state; which is on its way to Super-Powerdom status. Its economic growth is there, its man power is there, its natural resources are there, its international and political influence is growing and its defense budget is there to place it as a regional global power.

To compare India and Japan's military is unfair. Because India is a Nuclear Power, one that has the ability to liquidate Japan's surface fleet by use of an ICBM or launching a strategic missile into any japanese port or large urban center. Japan does not have this course, besides american military support.

All in all:
1) India is a RISING global power that will BE super power in time. No question about it
2) India's economy is booming, whereas Japan's has been in recession for 2+ decades
3) India is a Nuclear Power. She has the 'NUKE'

End.

Ill post more pics.

Also, the bomber fleet that you showed belongs to the Navy not to the airforce.

What is the last missile? All i read is anush, so is that Dhanush?

India should really phase out Prithvi's, they look like crap! Agni's look cool icon_smile.gif Su-30MKI definitely look cool or is that Mig-29!

The plane you mentioned, is not an Su-29 class; its an SU-30 class.
As for the bombers; I just simplified it.

Yes, its a Dhanush, which is a ballistic missile used by the Indian Navy; can be launched from their subs or their frigates. Impressive eh?

On India's Nuclear Program:

Though India has not made any official statements about the size of it nuclear arsenal, the NRDC estimates that India has a stockpile of approximately 30-35 nuclear warheads and claims that India is producing additional nuclear materials. Joseph Cirincione at the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace (3) estimates that India has produced enough weapons-grade plutonium for 50-90 nuclear weapons and a smaller but unknown quantity of weapons-grade uranium.

India's Special Forces have access to almost any type of small arms or specialized weapons required for a particular mission. These range from Browning Hi-Power 9mm pistols, AK-47/74s, 9mm Uzis, 5.56mm M-16A2s, 9mm H&K MP5-A2/A3s and locally manufactured 7.62mm SLR and 5.56mm INSAS rifles. Sniper rifles like the semi-automatic H&K 7.62mm PSG-1 and MSG-90, the SIG 7.62mm SSG-2000 and the bolt-action Mauser SP66/86SR are also used.

I will now be posting the pictures of the multiple special forces within the Indian Armed Forces:

BRAHMOS is a Supersonic Cruise Missile that can be launched from submarine, ship, aircraft and land based Mobile Autonomous Launchers (MAL). The missile is launched from a Transport-Launch Canister (TLC), which also acts as storage and transportation container.

Primarily BRAHMOS is an anti-ship missile. It has the capability to engage land based targets also. The missile can be launched either in vertical or inclined position and will cover 360 degrees.

The BRAHMOS missile has identical configuration for land, sea and sub sea platforms. The air-launched version has a smaller booster and additional tail fins for stability during launch.

IAF making alterations in Sukhoi aircraft to carry Brahmos
Apr. 16, 2006

The Indian Air Force was making minor alterations in its Sukhoi Aircraft for carrying the indigenously developed supersonic cruise missile ''BrahMos'' and the task would be completed between 2007 and 2008, A Sivathanu Pillai, CEO and MD, BrahMos Aerospace said today. "Already needful modifications for the mission are being worked simultaneously in BrahMos Aerospace Ltd, IAF and HAL," he told PTI here. "We need only small changes to be made. But it will be a a giant leap because if we deploy aircraft with BrahMos missiles, we will be the first country to deploy supersonic airborne missiles," he said.

Its called a "defense budget".

Feeding the poor and Creating Military Weapons are two different ballparks. You can't siphon money out of one to do the other.
