Yo I think the Hmong are the Native American version of Asia. The English used to call Native Americans, savages, which is a derrogative term, and all the other Asians call the Hmong, meo, which bestows a meaning of savagery and is a derrogative term toward the Hmong. Plus meo means cat in Viet. The beliefs are quite the same. Both the Hmong and the Native American religions are based off of animism and involves a shaman or witch doctor. And according to history the Hmong have faced many battles quite like the Native Americans. They are warriors of a land that was taken from them. Just thought I should mention these similarities. What do you guys think?

No Hmong people are the Miao Ethnic minority in China.
Their true beginning origins are unknown, but they have a history that is even longer than the Han Chinese. They have also lived in what is now China before the Han Chinese people occupied it. There were numerous wars and bloodshed between Miao and Chinese, eventually the Miao lost their lands, were separated and scattered resulting in a large number migrating into South East Asia, where they found peace for about 300 years until they became mixed up with the Indochinese wars and now most of us are here in America.

I haven't heard of black Hmong before. I know there is stripe.
The main difference is dialect. It's like the North/South accents in America...it's like Mandarin/Cantanese in China. It's like Hindi/Urdu/Bengali in India. Catch my drift?

LOL Chiyou was the ancestor of Hmongs??? Thats interesting...A bit shaky, but interesting.
You know that it was Chiyou, who attacked Yandi's clan, before being defeated by the alliance of Huangdi and Yandi (both considered ancestors of the Han Chinese), right?

Isn't he? Or do you believe he was the Ancestors of Koreans? Well cuz you know how there's them Koreans that claim Chiyou to be their leader.

Yeah anyawys, did Chiyou attack Yandi because there was fear of the growing "Han" expansion or something like that?

According to mythology, Chiyou was a sand-eating, blood-drinking barbarian (and often as a mythical monster) who basically goes around invading everyone just for the fun of it.

Well the writtings on this painting confirms the view that he was the ancestor of Hmong (Miao in Chinese)

I dunno, I just heard that Miao have claimed him, so have some Koreans. But in China I believe they have that statue along with the Yandi and Huangdi where all the Miao people usually go to kneel and pay their respects to the Chiyou statue or something. I wanna go see it someday.
It's all mythology but it's interesting. Maybe something more realistic occured similar to those events. Chiyou had 81 brothers with heads and arms as strong as steel and he could control wind and fog

2 He defeated Yandi and Huangdi united the tribes and summoned Dragons and beasts to fight against Chiyou!

Haha I always used the similarities of Native Americans and Hmongs, when someone asks me what I am.
Anyway Yah I'm hmong and I'm in the United States Navy, currently stationed in Yokosuka, Japan. And I'm not going to bother explaining who the hmongs are, because frankly I don't know myself. I grew up in America :-P! I don't hang out with hmongs, never had. All my friends are Chinese, Japanese, Laotion, Thai, Caucasian, African-American, Hispanics, and Europeans. Sorry hmongs, didn't grow up around you guys!

No they dont look like viet nor malaysian.
I doubt you can differentiate a Vietnamese from a Malaysian from a Chinese or from an Hmong. It's just a label, a cultural difference. How one looks, dresses and behaves has a lot to do with the culture one is immersed in.
So, asians are asians. Some are mixed (with say caucasians) to some degree but asians are asians.

Aren't the Caucus mountains part of Asia? Hence Caucasians are still Asians until they are Europeans. When white person wants to be asian they'll call themselves Caucasions becuase they look European but really have Asian blood mix.
