Are there "too many" asians? Usually when there is critical mass of asians outside of Asia, low-self esteem succumbs a large amount of asian-americans. US vs them mentality occurs.

at champaigne there is a lot of koreans. they had tried to slow down the number of koreans fom coming there. there are a lotta korean fobs in uic though

there are a whole lotta americanized koreans in champaigne. UIC in chicago has a higher percentage of fobby koreans.

My GPA is around a 4.3 with an ACT of 23. I got accepted to UIUC, I decline, since UIC is much closer, and I still need to keep a watchful eye on my idiot brother from driving my parents nuts.

I think is because of my school my GPA is so inflated. However I feel like I earned my merits, even I think my GPA is a bit exaggerated.

Your ACT score makes me feel bad. I only took it once, and I was planning on retaking it if my friends retakes score were 2 points higher, but their's stayed the same or went up by one. I do feel like I'll do a lot better on the ACT now, on the math portion at least. The way I saw my score was sense I scored a 23 I ranged from 22-24 which is good enough for me. Funny thing is my teacher said when he took the ACT he wasn't even "trying" and got a 27, and felt he could have done better, and he took it again and got like a 29 I think. Dam Asians!!! However he ended up not going to college after grad, and decided later on to go to college, I heard he went to Roosevelt before transferring to UIC, and he is pretty bright. My 3D teacher even went to UIC, I don't know most of the teachers I respect went to UIC, and both were Asian -_-".

Do you have a full ride?

nope, didn't really apply for any scholarship, except for the apple scholarship. I know someone in my division who got a fullride to Stanford.

I had a friend 2 yrs ago apply to UIUC with an ACT of 27 or something, but she did not get in.

I think it really depends on what college you apply under as well [think of it as major..]

My brother got into UIUC with engineering major with a gpa of high 3 and ok SAT score...but he changed major soon after the school starts. The engineering program there is tough.

UIUC, wow, I never knew there were a lot of Koreans attending that college. My friend is currently a med student at the Urbana campus, but is now studying in Peoria.

BTW folks, many of my friends have told me UIUC is not that great in academics. People in Illinois try to strive to get into the "Harvard of the midwest"....Northwestern University.
