Good day, my name is Tengo Lor, an administrator of Hmongartists.net. I am writing to you regarding this momentous event of May 2006 as "Hmong Artists Appreciation Month". Supported by Hmong art organizations and many individuals, we would like to welcome you in celebrating this historic change in further documenting and establishing Hmong modern arts.

Firstly, Hmong Artists Appreciation Month was launched in part because the Hmong art community has had a promising advancement in modern times and there is nothing to document our accomplishments. We only hear rumors from our elders of great Hmong empires in ancient China thousands of years ago, of which we may never really know the truth. Once thriving culture and arts influenced us and it was all washed away. We don't that to happen again. Help us, Hmong artists together, to document a new era in Hmong arts history.

Secondly, this celebration was launched to help recognize and promote Hmong artist individuals. We have Hmong animators, comic illustrators, musicians, actors, and even a new breed of filmakers that will lead us into a brighter future. We hope to encourage artists to proclaim themselves as a Hmong Artist. Did you know that over 50% of Hmong artists surveyed on www.hmongartists.net do not claim themselves as Hmong artists?

----

Everyday for the 31 days of May on Hmongartists, we will feature a "Daily Facts" about Hmong artists, events, and achievements. But we can not do this alone, we are asking all to help contribute to this cause in uniting and informing Hmong artists. At the end of the month, we hope to have an approximate history of modern Hmong arts.

Here is where you can help. If you have any information we would like to invite you to contribute to this cause. Anything is greatly welcomed from long essays to short dates and times of an event (note: all information submitted will be followed up on). Examples include:

-Interview/biographies of Hmong artists (it can be about yourself)
-Hmong events (i.e. largest concert held at place, time, and by whom)
-Hmong achievements (i.e. first Hmong comic book professional)
-Noticable recognitions
-News information (i.e. workshops, suggested benefits, opportunities)

----

Thank you for taking your time to read this and thank you for being part of this cause.

You can submit information by any means below (please include your contact information) or visit http://www.hmongartists.net/viewtopic.php?p=28545

Man, too bad I quit painting and drawing, been doing that my entire life up until now. I'm now into singing and dancing tongue.gif but I don't have any recorded stuff on that yet, since I just started this year.
