Why she ended-up in France as oppossed to some other European country?

maybe becoz her husband was French and it made her interested to explore about France and its language and culture. Then she found that France has a long history and art-cultural root, just like Indonesia. And she has loved the country ever since. But France was not her first destination, but London....

In London, she made a recording with a British producer, but she didn't get the right deal. Then she moved to Paris where she met Erick Benzi, the famous producer in France who had produced Celine Dion's album. Erick persuaded her to made the album in French and changed her music genre from rock to pop-ballad. They made some songs together and offered it to some recording companies. Anggun was almost surrender when her money was only enough for living 2 weeks more in Paris. But then, voila! She got the deal! Sony Music France loved her demo and her accent , and they asked her to made the English version also. They signed her for 2 albums.... Maybe that's why she thanks France for opening the way for her to go international

After leaving Sony Music in 2002, there were many rumors about in which record label Anggun would continue her music career. Some said she was taken by Tommy Mottola's new label, other said she was taken by Warner. But it seemed that Anggun wanted to have more control in recording process. She wanted to work with Jean-Pierre Taieb that was unknown in France. That's why she choosed a local label under Sony-BMG named Heben who managed some famous French singers like Johnny Halliday. Although Heben succeed in showing the different image of Anggun and promoting her in Europe, but they had lack of promotion and distribution control in Asia

Why is there a lack of promotion for her music in Asia? Many of my frens never heard of her music yet...

Anggu will duet with Julio Iglesias. Glenn Fredly is gonna contribute 2 songs for them as well

I assume becoz she is under French music label, Heben, that has limited distribution only in Europe
it seems they don't have experience how to sell and promote in Asian market
so Heben gave the right of distribution and promotion in Asia to Universal, but too bad, they didn't work
I think bcoz Heben is still under Sony-BMG, why didn't they give that right to Sony-BMG Asia, despite to the competitor like Universal?? There was a rumour that Universal had already spent much money to win that negotiation in Hongkong. They thought that Anggun's big name was enough,so they didn't have to do much promotion. They forgot, it had been 5 years after Anggun's second album, Chrysalis. People is easy to forget...

The promotion bout her album 5-8 years ago in Asia was better than now. Anggun had been touted as the Hot Seat in MTV Asia. Her 'Snow on The Sahara' had been ranked no.2 in MTV Asia's 20 Top Singles (I forgot the name of program). Ricky Martin was invited in MTV Most Wanted and when there was a request of Anggun's clip, he told that he loved Anggun and thought she was hot. Kylie Minogue included Anggun's 'Still Reminds Me' into her 10 fave videos. Madonna showed her CD collection in 2000s, and one of them was Anggun's Chrysalis. Pamela Anderson had included Anggun's Luminescence as her one of her 5 fave CDs in her personal blog. Celine Dion covered Anggun's Tu Nages, while Sarah Brightman and Enigma covered Anggun's Snow on The Sahara.

Anggun may not very famous like Britney Spears, but at least, she is respected. I do believe that every Asian singer that will try to go internationally....they have to prepare themselves to be compared with Anggun So I think it's important for Asian young people to know Anggun. I learn to be myself and proud as Asian from Anggun....

I read the news on yesterday's newspaper that Glenn will compose 2 songs for Anggun and Julio Iglesias for Indonesia special edition Glenn will fly to Spain to have a meeting with Julio about this.
