ok i see all the comment's on ps3 that ps3 is so expensive
for my opinion ps3 is worth buying cuz
1) next gen
2)blue ray
3) control is blue tooth and 6 degrees of freedom
4)extra 40 gigs and the HDMI and wifi
5) wifi is free
6)2 times better than xbox360
7)1080p
8) and so many cool games are coming
9) i think ps3 is real next gen console

10) many more stuff

I'm not buying ps3 till I see the games. So far nothing impresses me. Although UT2k7 is interesting, I much rather play it on the pc than on the flemsy ps2 controller. MGS4 looks good but I don't think they will change much of the gameplay. I wasn't really a big fan of MGS2 & 3. FFXIII and Killzone looks like they are pre-rendered Cinematics rather than real time gameplay. Nothing really to be wowed about. I don't blame developers for not pulling out the big guns in this year's E3. They say the PS3 is difficult to develop for and that it might take a year to understand what it is truly capable of. Maybe we will see awesome new creative ps2 games at the Tokyo Gameshow or next years E3. I just hope it isn't too late. People I read about said PS3 was a big dissapointment at E3.

If the format fails, then the system is screwed of course. It ain't going down without a hugeass fight though.

probably eventually it is cause its most likely the first release might be full of flaws...and even more so its @ bs price so given like 1-2 yrs for the price to drop then yeah its worth buying

with only 2 games that look somewhat interesting its just not worth the price for me

I personally won't be buying the PS3 at launch because
1) I don't have a HDTV
2) MGS4, FFXIII, GTA4 will not be available at launch
3) $600 for the real PS3 is just insane
4) I'm saving up for a Wii and a PC upgrade.

Yea, first generation of the next gen platforms will probably be bugged in some way. A good example the Xbox 360. It had overheating issues. The PSP had the shooting discs of death, stuck button, and dead pixels. The DS had stuck pixels. I'd wait for a price drop and at least a 2nd or 3rd generation of the platform.

I would never get the first generation of any electronics, mostly due to bugs and such. Remember the disc read errors on the PS2s and many problems in the first Playstation 1s?? I KNOW the first PS3s are gonna have some problems, I bet my life on it, seriously.

All those things are nice but why should I put down 600 dollars on a console when I can wait a year or two for the price to go down to something that I personally find reasonable. Personally, I could wait a year or two before having the newest hottest thing. I won't die without it. Also It's pretty stupid to buy at launch (except with nintendo, they put out quality at the beginning). I'll let the stupid people be the guinea pigs and I wait till the system goes through a couple of revisions. Also by then, most of the games that are even worth getting will probably be out by then. Launch titles for the past two playstations have sucked.

I'm gonna wait till the price drop down. I should have done that with my ps2. I paid $375 for it, when it came out. Now its $150 wtf . Now I realize it not worth it because in a few years, they are just gonna come out with a new system anyways.

The PS3 has the potential to be alot better then the 360 but it comes down to how a developer manages its resources to better exploit those benefits. to be honest i dont really see multi-platform companies such as EA pushing the boundries of any console. fact of the matter is, why make a game that much more appealing and lose profits from the work that was done on other consoles? i mean hell, the new madden looks identical to the last 1 with some old features re-added. IMO the ps3 is ahead of its time, being the technical beast that its claimed to be will most likely never be achieved. the only time a game may push any system is by either a 1st party developer or a dedicated 3rd party dev creating exclusive content. with expenses the way they are now in R&D for these next-gen systems companies are looking to ultimately maximize profit immediately first, exploit hardware second, the latter may come years down the road unfortunately. although with the licensing of middle-ware for the PS3 may alleviate these expenses to some degree it doesnt do anything to help alleviate the "how do we get out of the me-too category" that devs are eager to set themselves apart from. how many games are using the Unreal Engine 3.0 now and how many are in development? too many! its a good engine, but eventually most will look the same or feel the same, nothing worse then having an experience where you think, "wtf! i played this $hit before!"

Another area that is talked about is the 1080P display by the ps3. many feel that its not achievable at all. really now? the heavenly sword game was made at 1080p, did it run at a low frame-rate? how about Grand Turismo HD? did it stutter along at a unplayable frame-rate? there are more at 1080P such as war devil, resistance can run at 1080 but its being tested now for any performance hits on an early build. but that doesnt matter right now. thing is it can and is being done, if you can make a game that runs at 60fps in 1080P the gains of downscaling the resolution to say 720P would be incredible and would still allow headroom for any other effects, features, characters that can be added on screen.

in the end, its easy to point fingers and say what ever you want about the ps3, thing is, in reality love it or hate it, every one wants to see the ps3 flex its muscle and show what its capable of. just wish people wouldnt have expectations so high for this next-gen. seems people are looking for games that look like final fantasy the spirits within in terms of graphical quality and thats for both the ps3 and 360. that wont be achieved this coming generation but maybe just maybe the next.

yea but consoles are a little more portable and easier/faster to set up. besides, a computer means only one user unless it's a lan. with a console, you can have 2 players and maybe 8 if you have two multitaps
