More recoil than the 5.56 and not as accurate.

the truth of it is the owner of the weapon is an xmilitary friend of mine and the ammo god only knows where he came up with it.He was playing host and like me he values his privacy so I didnt ask. He had a few exciting weapons, I actually brought my HK-91 with me and we were both having a bit of fun. 308 cal. isnt cheap to shoot when your blazing away but it was worth it. LOL we even had the spud guns out. My wife didnt know what to think of those.
For those who dont know what a spud gun is: It is a length of pvc pipe with a grill igniter in the base. You spray starter fluid down the tube and ram a potato in then click the igniter to set off the gas. A good spud gun can launch a 2 inch spud for about 100 yds.
My spud gun has a port at the base . I ram the spud 1/3 the way in load the gas then ram it down to a stop i built into it. at night you get some awsome flames.
Red Neck games at their very best.

Now that you're back, are you going to bo paintballing or airsofting anytime?
tinman01
I need to take it easy for a while I guess. But eventually I want to get back into paint balling and target shooting . We will see what happens with my next check up.
Suijen
When's that?

This weapon should be standard issue for police swat teams.
Mossberg 535 ATS Slugster. 12 guage slug gun..... body armor or not the perp will go down...

What's your review on it Tinman?

I have never fired one so my knowledge is limited. My experience with Mossberg is that they make a reletively inexpensive but reliable weapon.
A 12 gauge slug is a slammer and a half. Goes in like a baseball comes out like a basketball. slow moving but tons of energy. In close quarters battle if you had a semi with a drum magazine it would be the $hit.
Suijen
Go for 10 guage then. Did you ever get that compact Springfield .45 you bragged about? That looked like a sweet gun.

Nope other issues intrevened..
10 guage LOL suijen you know it would be awsome. But it would no doubt require a warrior built like conan to handle it. whoa a mini gun chambered for 10 guage slugs???? Awsome potential.
Suijen
If I were to get a pistol, I would think that compact .45 would be it. 13 rounds of .45 sounds like a good deal.

How much more recoil would a 10 produce compared to a 12?

10 guage is an ouch factor of about 8 out of 10 for me... a 12 guage is about a 4. 10 is a big bore lots of powder round. I never would have believed the difference could be so huge until I fired one. It hurt...
Suijen
Probably why you'd never see it in the military. You can't bring your own guns along on a tour right? Always gotta use the standard issued stuff? I know that the DOD got pissed because a lot of troops used that Dragonskin Armor by Pinnacle instead of the military's standard issued body armor. They were so pissed that they declared that anyone wearing Dragonskin would get his life insurance revoked.

Yeah I heard that too...
If you decide to buy a weapon start light. go with a 22 cal target pistol and build good skills first. A .45 acp isn't terrible but for a novice it can be intimidating and produce a flinch reflex. Hell I taught my son on a pellot pistol then moved up to a 22 cal before I ever let him handle my man stoppers.

Hey Anya, welcome to the clan. What kind of firearms have you tried?
tinman01
A nice starter weapon for the novice to experienced would be any of the browning Buckmark 22 cal pistols. Accurate and reliable. A keeper for life.
lllanyalll
^ ooo sounds good! ^_^

Looter
building myself an AR-15 starting today
Suijen
What do you mean building?
Looter
i should've said assembling. I ordered all of the parts today except the lower receiver.
Suijen
Aren't those illegal in CA now? They're considered ARs I think.
Looter
It needs to have a non-detachable 10rd magazine in order to be considered legal.
Suijen
Non-detachable.
Looter
yeah, kind of stupid but there's some loopholes to that law. Also, some receivers allowing detachable magazines are not outlawed yet.
Suijen
It's not even worth it with those sort of laws.
Looter
I want to move to Texas.

Nah the ATF .
HK is my favorite assault rifle. Accurate, durable and very very reliable. HK 91 baby.
Suijen
When did you get to try one of those out? I don't suppose carrying a military license allows you to buy some sweeter guns does it?

Mine was purchased back in the 1980's LOL.... They were still a legal buy back then.
The US Military is seriously considering going back to. And the drum rolls!!!!! The 45 acp and the weapon they are looking at??? S&W m&p45....
Ah does this old warriors heart good.
For you shotgunners aka Anya The Benelli Ultralight. Looks sweet reports are it shoots sweet also.
tinman01
Today I shot the 300 win. short mag. Recoil not to bad,it was a winchester mod 70 with a muzzel brake so that added to the pleasure. Over all I give it 2 thumbs up.
Mr. Tree
Jeez, you guys talk about guns as if they were toys... even having a .38 would be like a cannon in your hands, it designed to KILL.

over here possesion of a firearm could land you 7 - 10 yrs jail, possesion of any weapon at least 6 - 12 months.

Aardvark
I want an M240 or any heavy machine gun and shoot it at you...

The 2nd amendment has been challenged overtime. "The right to keep and bear arms" has been limited and infringed upon.

Glad I don't live where you do.
No we don't talk about guns or even think about guns as if they were toys. We discuss specifications and uses. We discuss performance.
Some of us are well versed and some come seaking answers. Some of us are private owners whose hobbies include target shooting.
Nothing wrong nor violent about target shooting. LOL and a .38 is not a cannon. Now a 44 mag and bigger those are cannons.
Some guns are in fact designed to be a military weapon and strictly for maximum damage.
Many are designed to be target and sporting weapons. Yes all can be used to kill. Just like all knives, cars, trucks and airplanes.
