That's quite a powerful rifle. But since it's so powerful, it's best purpose would be somthing akin to a long range fast semi-automatic rifle. The recoil of a rifle is far too powerful for close range combat.

5.56x45 seems like a more suitable round, but still much more powerful. SMGs for that.

This weapon is deadly. Depending on the model up to 6000 rounds per minute. uses two radars for guidence. Altitude then bearing and range. Navy versions are water cooled allowing for 6000 rpm
Land based 3000 rpm air cooled. 20 mm depleted uranium rounds. War good idea man.

those monsters use 30 mm rounds that is completely kick @$$.
they have a kill rate of 40-60% depending on the type of missle.
they have a 40% on supersonic missles. 60% on regular anti-ship missles. almost 100% on incoming aircrafts. but then who's dumb enough trying who approach that big monster with a dinky jet?

the type 730 can have about 6000 RPM, but they carry around 3000 bullets in each cartridge. so they only shoot in bursts, but each bursts is around 200-300 bullets at least hahaha. it's a rain of bullets.

This one is actually a little different than the Vulcan system the army used when I was in. The navy"s phalanx system was beyond awesome when the fired it it sounded like big buzz saw.

The Navy sea whiz or phalanx system with its 2 radar configuration had very solid kill rate. they are positioned to provide overlapping fire. The tests I watched and others I read about against an aircraft were high 80% Kill if bellow super sonic. high 70% if above super sonic
Against cruise missiles same as an aircraft., against fast burner missiles high 60% low 70%.
The navy system uses 2 radars one for height and size ( How many contacts) The other for bearing and range.
The weakness of the system is ? You got it operator error.... If you don't turn it on active search mode it wont hit $hit. That's what happened to the stark. The sailors had the system down for maintenance and it was never brought back on line. Its a great system but like many things its weakness is the human interface.

These are not your standard AAA guns. These are a Gatling gun style system. They literally create a wall or curtain of bullets. Example some AAA guns are more like giant shot guns. Rudimentary radar guidance that's easily defeated. Much lower rate of fire.
Sea whiz on the other hand. Duel fire control radars with computer enhanced return and filtering. High rate of fire up to 6000 rpm, very fast articulating platform. Many have tried to copy it few have succeeded.
The first prototype almost doomed the project. The drone actually flew into the prototype. hahaha it was destroyed.
Then the navy realizing radars biggest handicap side lobe distortion. They went with fire control 2 radars and it worked. Plus some very complex software and hardware. way more cool than AAA.
Sea whiz is to AAA guns what Propellers are to sails.

yea, the phalanx system is very impressiva already but it's got its disadvantages against the 30mm rounds instead its 20 mm rounds.
the 30 mm rounds are way more destructive because of it's explosive power to destroy the missle instead of punching holes on the missle. But hte problem is that it's way more heavier and waaaaaaay more expensive to produce and install. The phalax system is soo easy to install it's like building a bookshelf that u buy from IKEA.

It predicts the course of the missile and fires in front of the what ever is attacking, i forgot if it has explosive shells, but there is a new navy weapon to kill swarm ships which has a rapid fire with like shotgun shells very cool.
