Tenjikuronin
Indian names aren't really any longer than most average names.

I hear that some South Indians have longer names bacuse they take on the names before them (father, grandfather, etc.) or something to that extent (correct me If I'm wrong).......
JMAC
Like the Thais...damn long names...
kkdkckrl
NO offense but atleast they are not as embarrasing as chinese names who have to resort to western names! Say Wu Ping!

not so sure how this post could be read with 'NO offense' in mind, but the same goes for the topic starter as well.

kkdkckrl
well, it was meant to be offensive and piss off the topic starter!

Firstly, thats a dumbass way to ask this question and very rude. The name you gave isn't real as far as I know.

Most surnames I know are generally fairly short and only have about 4-6 letters in them. Mine has 6, hardly long. Some have long names and others don't, like most places.

Also, I hope people stop insulting Chinese names, I think thats no better, even if it is aimed to annoy the topic starter.

"NO offense but atleast they are not as embarrasing as chinese names who have to resort to western names! Say Wu Ping!"

What's your problem?

I was asking a simple question, If i was trying to be offensive to Indians surely i could come up with something better.

Your post suggested that Indian names are "some $hit", that is very rude.

However, its true that to make fun of Chinese names is just as rude, even if the intention was to piss you off.

I don't give a $hit if you make fun of Chinese names because i'm not a crybaby unlike some people.

Well you're the one who asked what the problem was. I mean why phrase the question like j@ckass instead of asking with a little courtesy.

Also, where did I make fun of Chinese names?

everyone in my family has long first names, same "short" last name, South Indian. biggrin.gif
NadzRuzmen
Really? I don't think the example u gave is a long name.

I think long names exist in all ethnicities. For example...some Malays got very long names. Sumtimes..even I can't remember their names. Haha..
xxmiyaxx
I don't know about Indians, but sri lankans usually have really long names cuz the whole grandfather + father name or something I uno... and like people pointed earlier, its just as rude to make fun of Chinese names. Every culture has a certain style to names, and as long as they like it, fine, screw off, no one else really has a right o make fun of others names...........

P.S. I love Asians names so much more than western names; every second person has the same frigin name icon_rolleyes.gif
playkid
hehehe
Randi
I think Singhales and Tamils have pretty long names I dunno I could be wrong but here are four examples of last names I could think of.

Wijeywardene = Singhalese
Abeywickremsinghe = Sinnghalese
Tharmakulasingham = Tamil
Anupragulasam = Tamil

Yes. I don't know how the last name came in India, but Grover is a legit North Indian Punjabi last name.

Grovers are either Hindu or Sikh.

People are always asking me if I'm Christian or if my dad is white. icon_confused.gif It's hard for some people to believe that Grover is an Indian name. sure.gif

Since the "V" and "er" is pronounced differently in India, maybe Grover sounds like a stereotypical Indian last name over there. laugh.gif

Ohh I see...so would it be pronounced like "Growair"? "Garowa"?
icon_redface.gif Sorry if I messed it up.
