I'm kinda new to the NGE series and I like it and all, but there is one thing that I haven't figured out yet...............Whats the deal between Rei and Shingi's Dad? Do they have some kind of special relationship or something? I just seen an eposide where Shingi mentioned that to Rei just before him and his dad meet up to go to his mother's grave. Can anyone clue me in?

this anime was more psychological and over coming emotional and mental boundaries to move on w/ life... i hated that the 1st 13 eps are fights then it gets all psychological...

forgot about the daughter thing too.. and don't care to look back >_>.. but she was just clones.. either a memorabilia or trying to make the best combo for his weapons..

She wasn't "just a clone" and you'd realise that if you were paying any sort of attention.
In the Japanese original, it is heavily suggested that Gendo has an inappropriate relationship with one of the Reis.

Have you finished watching it yet? The bits towards the end is a proper mind fu-k.

So he made clones of the original to carry "Adam's" embryo, but the original was strangled? WTF?? Do they explain this in the epsiodes?? If so, which one?....so I can get an understanding of this.

I don't think it was the original plan to have Rei be the host.

In anycase, I believe the episode that shows this happens after episode 18.

I'm not quite sure on the number of the episode, but Rei carrying the embryo of Adam was supposed to help in bringing about the Third Impact. Gendo injects the embryo into his hand, which he plunges into Rei.

Or at least I think that is how it goes. I have to watch the episodes to be certain.
