Hey guys,

I'm going to Connecticut for a summer pre-health (dental) program at the University of Connecticut in Farmington this weekend.

The only East Coast cities I've been to are NYC, Boston and Washington DC. I've never set foot in Connecticut.

So how's Farmington like? My dorm will be in a town called New Brittain, CT. I will be there for a month and a half.

Coming a long way from Hawaii, I'm pretty sure the culture is different. But a lot of the people whom I've spoken with over the phone seem to be friendly. Unlike the cold careless people in NYC.

omg you're going to connecticut! that's awesome cause i'm from connecticut too! a lot of my friends are going to uconn but uconn located in storrs cause uconn has three campuses---the main one being located at storrs. i know where new britain is. it a definitely a white dominated town---new britain is close to bridgeport (that's where i'm from) I've heard of farmington but i never been there. go to hartford there are a lot of asian there. new britain i dont know about there but i do know that uconn is a really good school. i went there for three weeks over the summer and i really like the people there, really diverse. uconn also has one of the best medicla programs so you're gonna be in good hands. anything you want to know about CT just pm me ior something cause CT IS THE BEST!

Simple and fast. There is nothing there. Bowling. Movies.... and everything closes at 8pm. Oh, did I mention between bowling and movies, they're about a 30~40 minute drive apart?. Sorry cherrypie icon_smile.gif I've lived there for way too long. (Maybe b/c I live in Avon?)

The people on the east coast are, oh, how do I say it, more distant.

Haha, both figuratively and literally.

You're kidding me!

I find the people in Connecticut to be very friendly! It's like complete opposite from NYC people, despite being close to NYC!

I think I have better connections with the folks here than in places like Los Angeles (where they're fake, cold, isolated and pretentious) and NYC (cold jerks in general).

Although people here in Central Connecticut drive aggressively, they also tend to let you pass through the intersection and wave back to you. Kind of reminds me of the midwest and my former home Hawaii.

Connecticut is friendly, but it depends on the situation you are in icon_smile.gif I actually just can't stand people who are too friendly when I barely know them. (I am probably an NYC person at heart, considering I lived in SOHO for 4 years before moving to CT)
ABC in NYC
I'm from NYC and we're nice people. JERK !

Well, I was born in Hawaii, lived in the Emerald City (Seattle), and NJ where people are nice to one another.

LA and NYC, blah! Another story. But between NYC and LA, I'd take NYC anyday! There's so much things to do and the people are more "academic-oriented" when it comes to conversations. LA people, just pretentious, fake, rude and attitude problems.

Man, if people are unusually nice to me for any reason. They either want something or they are gonna rob you blind in a dark alley somewhere... At least that's my mentality.

^^ WTF?! eek.gif

I guess you have that NYC mentality where you can trust nobody. NYC, Los Angeles, people just can't trust one another. Sad. icon_redface.gif

At for people from the midwest, Hawaii, Florida, the South or the Pacific Northwest knows what "neighborliness" is.

Yeah. We usually drive within the 70s. In CT, you need to drive that fast in order to get where you want to be within half an hour.

Even though I don't like living in CT, things are cheaper and its so much easier to find a parking spot.

omg i love the movie love story from 1970! its so sad! the last 30 minutes i literally cried the entire time! i notce how all korean dramas ranging from autumn tale to a moment to remember has somewhat been influenced by this film. i mean, love story is classic! in ct, we don't drive fast compare to new yorkers.

Connecticut is a different place altogether from where you are, feople are friendly, a bit too much, and the place dies down after 9 in the evening.
