does anyone here know Yoko Kanno, famed for anime music (eg. vision of escaflowne, Cowboy Bebop and Ghost in the shell: stand alone complex). She really makes some great music.

most people who listen to j-pop, k-pop dont understand the language. i guess they like the sound of it or sth. some good j-pop singers include: boa, Hello Project love2.gif , ayumi, SMAP
yonsama
Music isn't about what language it's sung in... It's more about the creativity of the sound in my opinion. That's the reason why I listen to different types of music. I could care less about lyrics.

Anyways.

Utada is a cool singer but my number one is Nakashima Mika.
Jaimu-Jaimu

Good music is good music regardless of lyrics.
If anything in Western (English language) music, the lyrics and language make the songs less attractive, especially in modern music.
Kaneda

I like:

DAI
Dir en Grey
Ayumi Hamasaki
Koda Kumi
Utada Hikaru
B'z
Malice Mizer
Ai Otsuka
Ken Ishii

After listening to Western music, Japanese pop/rock music is quite refreshing and great to listen too.
