Wapanese?


Wapanese is the term used to describe a person of non-japanese descent (usually white, however some others are lumped in there as well) who is incredibly obsessed with Japanese things.

A person who watches anime or majors in Japanese language at university is not counted as wapanese.

These are common behaviours displayed by wapanese:

1. Being obsessed with anime. The typical anime watcher enjoys the shows because they are fun to watch and interesting (not all are for children, that is a myth). However, wapanese will take it to an unhealthy level.

2. Their rooms will be filled with japanese things. Anything from anime stuff to japanese things such as Tatami. A true wapanese will have next to nothing non-japanese in their room.

3. Many wapanese will believe that Japan is the best country ever and that if they go there they will be adored. However, most wapanese don't understand that Japan is a very racist society and they don't like white people very much.

4. They will constantly post things on the internet containing a few of the japanese words they know. These words are usually: kawaii and baka. These words will be used in an english sentence such as: "You are so baka"

5. Many wapanese will develope an unhealthy obsession with asian girls/guys. Many of them will refuse to be with someone who isn't japanese.

6. wapanese tend to spend all of their time watching anime, reading manga and listening to japanese music. A lot of them are unemployed and live at home with their parents (some are students, some are over 30). The ones who do have jobs, have very poor jobs, such as working at a supermarket.

7. Wapanese listen to tons of japanese music but will refuse to listen to anything non-japanese. They also tend to say that non-japanese music is crap while the japanese music is godly. However, most wapanese tend to listen to Japanese Pop which can be very, very similar to non-Japanese pop.

8. Many wapanese do cosplay. However, many normal anime watchers cosplay as well. However, wapanese tend to overdo it and act very elitist at conventions.

9. Most wapanese know very little about Japan. They don't look past the anime and whatnot. Most wapanese don't know anything about Japan's history. However many wapanese will pretend to know what they are talking about, however they tend to be incorrect.

10. Wapanese also tend to butcher the language (besides using them in english sentences). A good example is the meaning of otaku. The wapanese will use it to describe themselves, however most don't realize that otaku in Japan means you are very mentally unstable. Otaku in Japan are looked down upon and ridiculed.

They believe that everything in Japan is good and everything anywhere else is bad. They don't see the truths before their eyes and refuse to see them.
Those who cosplay, dress in japanese fashion, watch anime, etc. aren't considered wapanese until the unhealthy obsession is present.

11) wapanese love japan with all their heart. they wish they were japanese. They end up defending Japan in any situation, especially when conflicted with other asian nations such as Korea or China. When they do this online on forums, they say they are japanese and try to disguise themselves since you can not see who they actually are.

Man, its so sad. cuz they think they know all about japan, when all they do is spend countless money on manga and anime. What f*ckn nerds. But they dont know jack about japanese history, japanese culture, the japanese language, and the japanese lifestyle. then they wanna go to japan and fit in with the japanese and be just like them because they think they can be just as 'japanese' as the natives when they will be looked at just as 'foreigners'. In other words they would look stupid as hell.

then they think they are so cool cuz they can name a lot of japanese food. they'll say something stupid like, "man, im craving some yakisoba or maybe some onigiri." then they go on acting like they know all these japanese words when all they frikkn say is stuff from anime shows. THere's this one guy i know, who's annoying as hell. he says crap like shinigami and bankai all the time. What a f*cking loser.

Well, I'm korean and I love japan. But i dont watch anime or read manga because i have a life. I read about japanese history and study the arts too as well, not anime or manga, real japanese art. Also ive been studying the language for a few years. I'm not fluent yet but still practicing and hoping to go to japan next year. I happen to have a few relatives there. The thing is i dont listen to japanese music and all that entertainment crap. I just have a few nice songs i like. I'm not all hardcore. and also it gets really annoying when they 'try' talking japanese and try to sound as japanese as they can trying to eliminate their american accent. I'm just like ok thats enough nobody cares, stop showing off. Also they act like they can speak it but they wont be able to carry on a real conversation. just phrases they pick up from their anime shows

Okay, these Wapanese think Japan is perfect and there's nothing wrong with it or its people then how would they explain the atrocities they did in World War 2, they'd say what, that the Chinese and Koreans deserved it?

I've had Wapanese (so that's what they're called) expertly inform me Chinese people have a harder time with Japanese words than westerners (americans) because Japanese is closer to English pronounciations since there are has so much enrish words in it now, plus they will have no problems because of katakana as it's based on english. And Chinese is closer to english because of word order.

uhm maybe you should tell them maybe japanese words have origins in korea and china. also kanji is basically chinese hanji characters. same thing in korea, they call it hanja.

Its ok, I think you seem pretty normal to me. I think its ok to like anime and manga and stuff. just dont go overboard to the point it makes you look like a loser. I mean you dont wanna end up being 30 still collecting anime dvd's. I mean when your young its cool. I use to watch some on tv when i was in middle school. It's just that when these guys are 16-?? years old and are losers, then i dont know what to say. I mean i think a moderate amount is good as long as it doesnt affect your whole lifestyle.

I remember my first year of japanese class. Everybody was new and were assigned to write a reason why they want to learn japanese. There were barely any asians. Mostly white and some black kids. Then everybody shared why they wanna learn. I swear all the white kids said either they wanna learn to read japanese manga, or i want to be able to watch anime without the subtitles, or i want to be able to buy japanese video games and read them. I was like ok......what a waste of time to learn a language for such goals like those.

I just hate it how these white kids Just love these anime crap so damn much, they end up loving japan. They look like they love it so damn much they are willing to die for that country, but in reality no japanese person would give a crap. Just some dumb @$$ that watches anime and manga. Not a real japanese enthusiast. Anime and manga does not necessarily define the culture of japan or the essence or japan. Its just f*cking cartoons dammit. It gets f*cking annoying in my class when kids keep whispering about episodes and reading a comic book under the table and stuff. its so sad. there was this one time when we were naming as many japanese names as we know. Stupid @$$ white kids were screaming NAruto!! Sasuke!! Sakura!! Kenshin!! ive heard these names way too much in stupid anime talks.

-Super nice people, and loving people

-Super smart and polite
-All girls look like anime people
-Never would commit a crime, or even hurt a fly

-there are no people in japan that have bad personality, everybody are good people
- love japanese food its the best (sometimes they dont really like it, but force themselves)
-The language is beautiful, the most original language ever and pleasant to the ear
- love the Kanji of japanese language. Chinese and korean influence? of course not.
-japanese history consists of samurais and ninjas, and h-bombs
-Anime and manga is the primary aspect of japanese culture
-japanese music is the best from asia. Even better than american music. US is all about love and bs like that. very repetitive. but japanese songs are so original. Always enjoy singing along (even though they have no idea what the song is about unless they look it up online)
-etc....list can go on..........

They think they're japanese? all they f*cking do is just watch cartoons!! how does that make them connected to japan. Anime is not japanese culture, its just cartoon series that entertain people. i'll admit anime characters are really cute to look at. I admire them very much. but thats about it.

Also there are some white kids who want to be artists. All they do is draw anime characters and copy it from their books. Then they try to memorize how to draw it. Then they want to make their own anime characters. They try to be as creative as they can and spend time making stupid lame @$$ f*cking characters. Yes, they do look like anime stuff, just uglier. They say they dream of making their own manga or anime. they make up characters and make up stories. i mean its not a bad idea, but they gotta f*ckin learn how to draw. they suck suck suck!!

I obsess to anime to a certain degree. Just look at my sig and avatar....but Im asian? What does this have to do with white people lol...many people with different backgrounds tend to like Japan and why?? Just look around, Import cars are everywhere. The technology you use in your home, at least like 4 of them have to be japanese origin, even your movies...Sony Pictures, Games? I can name alot but yeah japanese culture is becoming all the things we see around us in the media and all. You notice that the EMO punk look is from japan too???
