"Which book is your favorite and why?"
Well, I am not much of an avid reader, but the book I enjoy reading the most is "Comedy writing Secrets", by Mel Helitzer. It teaches the structures of comedy and why we laugh.

My favorite book would be A Tale of Two Cities A Tale of Two Cities by Charles d!ckens. What seems to be a simpe story actually has quite a lot of themes and symbols in it, most noticeably is the importance of sacrifice for a greater cause and that death/violence is always present in times of war because many leaders are currupt.
Though this story has many battles and government issues, the reader will always keep in mind the personal lives of individual characters. d!ckens wrote the book with such details and description that one could map out the actually events. With a very descriptive, meaning, and also touching story, there is no argument as to why this book is a classic and why it is my favorite book.

"My Favorite Book and Why"
Tony Morrison's "The Bluest Eye" and "Songs of Soloman", because they both deal about accepting one's identity in an environment that either looks down on that or belittles it.
The books make you think and ponder and ask yourself what your identity means to you.

My favorite book is...
The lion the witch in the wardrobe.
The reason well
I had only known english for a few months (like 4 or 5) and yet I was able to read the book it was intresting but it made me feel great like I had accomplished somthing.
Even now 8 years later I read it once in awhile it is a timeless classic.

Snow Flower and the Secret Fan by Lisa See. Sad book about chinese traditional foot binding. How women were treated as dirt, and how the birth of a baby girl is a disgrace to one family, only an "extra mouth to feed". Pretty sad, but I enjoyed reading it whole heartedly.

Angels and Demons is my favorite book because it really puts you inside the book. You feel like you are expericencing whats actually going on. It touches a sensitive subject of religion and science, much along the same lines as The Da Vinci Code but better. I got the sense that a greater deal of feeling was put into the book and thats why I like it so much.

The best book i ever read?? That's real tough, but the best book i ever read is what i'm reading right now, it's a book called PLATO, talking about SOCRATES. I got this book at first when i went to pace university for PHILOSOPHY class, i never read it during that class lol but i picked it up, dusted it off and started to read it. It's a good book, talking bout SOCRATES and his execution, virtue and how it can be taught or not taught, real deep crazy philosophical stuff, but it's good, mad confusing though, had to read it a second time

My favourite book:
Les Liaisons Dangereuses. Why? I've read so many books, some of them hundreds of times, some in the source but also in the many translations into other languages, and also well-written technical treaties, studies, documentations, and even whole dictionaries LOL!!! all those are books!!!
Now, if I had to choose one as my favourite, that could only be Les Liaisons Dangereuses, a French epistolary novel about love, seduction, intrigues and scandal in the Age of Enlightenments, by author Pierre Choderlos de LACLOS.
Many movies have been made, which were inspired of or adapted from this book (director and French film legend Roger Vadim had made two films: La Ronde, with actress Brigitte Bardot, and Les Liaisons Dangereuses, with actress Jeanne Moreau). Most of you have probably already viewed one or many of those?
Dangerous Liaisons (1988, Stephen Frears) -- is closest to the novel
Valmont (1989, Milos Forman)
Cruel Intentions (1999, Roger Kumble)
Untold Scandal (2003, E J-Yong) -- a Korean movie! I haven't seen this one yet ! --> follow this link
Dangerous Liaisons (2003, Josée Dayan)
This novel is really THE favourite classic novel of all times literature, the best of all epistolary novels ever written. And I love all the wit and the grace, and even more the beautiful and purest of style in French writing. BTW, the saying "Revenge is a dish best served cold" originated from this novel... (Ha ha
"La vengeance est un plat qui se mange froid"... Zidane should have read this book before playing the World Cup Finale!!!)
Personally, I often prefer to quote from Letter XXXIII:
"Et puis, savez-vous ce qui arrive? par cela seul qu'on dispute, on ne veut pas céder. A force de chercher de bonnes raisons, on en trouve ; on les dit ; et après on y tient, non pas tant parce qu'elles sont bonnes, que pour ne pas se démentir". "And then, do you know what happens next? by the only fact that you're having an argument with someone, you will not want to yeld. By dint of searching for good reasons, you'll find them; you'll say them; and after, you'll hold on to them, not so much actually because they are good reasons, but because you will not want to contradict yourself." <- my translation on the fly; in other words, it's better not to start arguing, when it's unnecessary.
There's a very good new English translation by Douglas Parmée, Oxford Paperback, ISBN: 0192838679. Reading it, your English might never be the same again.

SORSTALANSÁG by Imre Kertész
Its ironic and shows how a child playful nature becomes a man with no hope but waiting for death. The painful thing is that death becomes a way for the people to escape the world of no hope.
Shows world war two in a different way.
