If we are determine to unite the Vietnamese people then we need a new national flag. The national flag is the symbol of the nation and we cannot use neither the VC or the VNCH flag because it both doesnt represent a united Viet Nam, we need a new national flag.


I came up with a few design.

Yellow represent the Vietnamese people skin, and red represent the bloody battlefield that we have fought and are fighting on.






Post up your design or your ideas about what the flag have to looks like and what its elements have to represent.
Remember, make the design simple but meaningful and if possible, beautiful. ^^

The first one look good.....the second look uncreative.

We should also incorporate blue for peace and the ocean, and green for the lush land that our culture is based on, and perhaps white for truth, the basis of all things.

I can't imagine blue, green and white on our flag.

Personally I'm used to red and yellow.

How about a symbol/chinese character in the middle. Words like "thống nhất'' 统一...........

Try to stay away from the similarity of red and yellow. Think about it! Red and yellow seem to be the same basis for the two flags that we are trying to change. Isn't it strange that they are the same, red and yellow and both sides are just as bad as the other?

One should be a bit more creative to represent a new direction.

How about a simple 3 stripes flag? Like the German/Italian flag.
3 stripes:blue=hope/peace, yellow=Viet people (skin colour), and red=bloody battlefield/green=our land.

Blue=peace/unity is placed on top to represent the objective (of our people struggle). Red=battledfield so its placed on the bottom, and yellow=viet peo. skin in the middle.

Same flag design as currently, except that the background is blue - where blue stands for freedom or democracy or both. Take your pick.

I don't want any references to skin color, as our notions of citizenship don't make any reference to skin color and as we have 54 ethnic minorities. In addition, we'll most likely have in the future Vietnamese citizens in the future with blond hair and blue eyes.

What do you have against them. Do we want something new or stay with the old and the trouble, the corrution, the abuse of our Vietnamese women and children. Our culture is based on peace and truth first. Fighting is what we only do when it is forced upon us, but we are not a war nation that is out to conquer, supress and corrupt anybody. That is the Chinese an USA style, I am afraid I have to say so.

Do it perpendicularly. Blue represents peace and ocean, surrounding a perpendicular yellow stripe to represent one people, unified, with a white star in the middle to represent the purity and sanity of our culture. Peace reinforces peace, good sense reinforces good sense.

That will look like a combination of the VC's and the VNCH's flag....

all these flags are hella tacky.

Also, the star should be ten edged star to represent all directions coming together, as we say there are ten directions, 8 directions plus Heaven and Earth. I voted for the incorporation of yellow, red, blue and white. This flag just lacks some more meanings.

It is just that flag with two minor changes, a perpendicular stripe to represent one unified people, connected to Heaven and Earth, the basis of our culture and a ten edged star to represent coming of all elements, including Heaven and Earth. That flag lacks the representation of one unified people coming together. These two changes will give it that; that is what I think. Are there anymore suggestions?

We are tying to create a new direction by creating a new flag that will give a more effective pressure on the VC govt. Those that stand against this are likely afraid of the changes. They are just scared.

Don't worry we are only interested in pressuring the govt for changes, not overtaking it. We don't want more bloodshed.

Even the VCs are trying to change, but their changes will be ineffective since there is no really outside pressure for changes. We are hoping to rectifiy that soon!

I dont hate the VNCH's flag. I am just trying to create unity amongs our Vietnamese countrymen by designing a flag that would represent a united Viet Nam. Our countrymen sacrificed themselves under those flags. I respected both the VC's and the VNCH's flag.

I didnt post the Khmer Krom flag because i dont know what it looks like. I posted a design of my idea. Blue=sky/unity/hope, Yellow=Vietnamese people, and Red=the bloody battlefield. If my design look similiar to the Khmer Krom its only similiared through looks, not meanings.

The website i posted do not belong to me. I never say that everything on it is actual photos of Vietnam, theyre photos collected by an anti-communist, only some of them show some images of modern Vietnam, that is images of beggars, poverty in general.
