I don't know if anything about this has been posted, and sorry if it has, but I saw a documentary about it which was fascinating.

Its about a young Nepalese Buddhist (16yr old) who had meditated for 10 months without food or water. It is said that he uses ancient yogic meditation techniques to continue his survival and meditation as he sat under a tree day and night.

Some say he is a reincarnation of Buddha, and like Buddha, he intends to meditate for 6 years in attempt to reach 'enlightenment'.

The documentary recorded him day and night for 72 hours (the average amount of time it takes for a human to die without water). During this time, not only did he survive, but none of the expected injuries had occured due to lack of nutrition.

The boy (Ram) eventually disappeared (after 10 months) but has apparently returned of late to just say he is ok and went away to leave all the media circus and hype surrounding him.

The documentary also showed another man in India who claims he hasn't eaten or drank since he was 12 (he's around 80 now). Again, there are recordings taken of him 24hrs a day (not sure how many days, but I think its at least 72 hours too) performing his daily routines to see if he's consuming any food or water (this is done to the point to see if he's actually taking in any water during baths). The man says his explanation is feeding off of the sun by looking up at it on a daily basis (photosynthesis).

I dunno...i feel sceptical about people who take so much faith in buddhic reincarnations in a young boy.. you know? I mean, the poor kid's life is over the moment he's chosen as The One.

No wonder the kid had to disappear! Too much pressure!

I agree, I think the boy should do what he feels he needs to do and try to ignore those who create too much hype around him.

Many have tried to exploit him for money, others believe he is Buddha, but he's not gotten that far into his meditation yet, so most importantly, he should be allowed to do this in peace.
