screw that... THEY should learn ENGLISH!!!! why should we have to accomodate them when they live in the U.S.

99% of my customers are hispanic, its so frustrating when they dont even TRY to talk in english. We [americans] make more of an effort to learn spanish than they do to learn english and i dont think its right. Not too long ago, Arizona had some voting to make english the official state language... i mean is that really necessary? it's america, of course it should be english.

I wanted to learn spanish too and i know that i'd probably be better off too but I just think that they should make more of an effort. Why should we cater to them, they should adapt to our lifestyle and not expect us to adapt to theirs.

sorry, as you can see i get worked up about this issue. i mean how can i not when i'm calling some lady to give her car back and she asks if i speak spanish. i tell her no and she says she doesnt speak english and hangs up on me. its not even an isolated incident, its likely to happen more than once a day at times. i KNOW most atleast know enough to communicate with me and i feel that they should atleast try rather than expecting me to know how to speak spanish.

Well, you are in a Spanish speaking territory buddy, the Americans took Arizona from Mexico in 1848 by means of a war, in the same way they take the oil from Iraq these days. If you don't like to speak Spanish, then don't make business with those people, just ignore them, or perhaps you could move to one of the thirteen states that made up the original United States of America where English is legitimately the main language. biggthumpup.gif

Spanish is very important. I am A Korena living in Puerto Rico and it is indeed very but very important. Keep in mind that if you are fluent in spanish in the U.S you can expand your business and etc. You would double your money. good luck!

Korean*

I am very good at spanish. I am planning to study in the U.S and stay there to work.

stop complaing... SPanish immigrants work harder than most Americans anyway... don't try to force them to learn the American language. they'll learn it when they need to learn it

i took spanish for 6 years... it's not that hard of a language to learn

just be around Spanish speaking people/things and you'll pick things up quick

You would not double your money just by learning spanish. That's just stupid. A smart business person doesn't have to learn a lick of spanish. You hire spanish speaking people to do the job for you... kinda like how I did. And when I want to do business with China, I can just hire someone that speaks mandarin. No need to go out and learn different languages. If you're smart, your time is more valuable than just working the retail end.
