Popular young stars from two rival networks star in Regal’s ‘White Lady’
by: Crispina Martinez Belen
Some of the country’s more popular and talented young stars who’re from the rival networks, GMA 7 and ABS-CBN, are gathered together in Regal Entertainment’s latest suspense-horror flick, "White Lady," top-billed by Angelica Panganiban, JC de Vera and Pauleen Luna.
These young stars are Glaiza de Castro, Katarina Perez, Ketchup Eusebio, Jason Abalos, Gian Carlos and StarStruck’s Iwa Moto and Pinoy Big Brother’s Franzen Fajardo. The executive producer, Mother Lily, said they are the young talents to watch out for. She had so much faith in these young stars that she intends to give them more projects in the future. She’s most specially impressed with Iwa Moto, who she predicts to become a big star in no time.

Iwa Moto’s ecstatic for being one of FHM’s 100 Sexiest Women
By WALDEN SADIRI
She’ll be turning 18 on Aug. 29 this year but GMA Artist Center’s rising young star Iwa Moto recently had a "Sweet 16" debut on FHM’s 100 Sexiest Women edition and it’s her first time to appear in the very popular men’s magazine!
"I’m flattered because even if I hadn’t posed for their magazine I was voted in for the first time. This is part of the good opportunities I’m getting at kahit papaano publicity yun. It’s also about voting so ibig sabihin gusto po ako ng mga tao," Iwa giggled during an intimate interview at the Cafe Imperial for the film "White Lady."
She added that it also meant a lot that people would like to see her in FHM someday.
"Siguro gusto lang nila akong maghubad...wala namang pressure kasi nasa GMA Artist Center yun kung papayagan nila ako. Ako naman kasi kinakaya ko lahat...but I signed a contract with them and I trust them and I know they’ll take care of me and my career."
Iwa stressed that even if she is not managed by GMA Artist Center, going sexy would still be a remote possibility. She even gave it a 3 out of 10 chances of it happening.
"I also respect myself. And I don’t want to bare just for the sake of money. I never dreamed of that happening in my life!"
Aside from her young age, Iwa is also concerned about her family and people around her. In every decision she makes, she would take them into consideration because she didn’t want to hurt their feelings. She believes that the right and opportune time will come for her to bare and do mature roles in the future.
"Open naman ako sa mga bagay bagay... siguro kaya ko, po!, pero hindi pa ngayon... tago muna ng konti. For me dapat marunong ka, po! Ang tinuro sa akin ng GMA Artist Center, hangga’t may career pa ako huwag muna akong pa-sexy. Because if I show everything, people would tire of me easily," she reasoned out.
Iwa Moto is among the 17 GMA Artist Center talents who made it to FHM’s 100 Sexiest Women with premium actresses Angel Locsin and Katrina Halili ranking No. 2 and No. 1 respectively. Other GMAAC making it to the lists were Jennylyn Mercado (6), Regine Tolentino (30), Iza Calzado (40), Valerie Concepcion (44), Christine Reyes (46), Isabel Oli (49), Chynna Ortaleza (53), Jackie Rice (54), Nadine Samonte (55), Julia Clarete (63), LJ Reyes (65), Ryza Cenon (68), Sheena Halili (74) and Yasmien Kurdi (75).
Even if she was voted in as one of FHM’s 100 sexiest, if that time comes when she would pose, she also wouldn’t mind appearing in Maxim like her co-actress in "White Lady," its female lead Angelica Panganiban.
"Maganda po ang mga pictures ni Angelica sa Maxim, hindi po malaswa at kaya ko rin po yun kasi I also wear two-piece bathing suits. Pero GMA Artist Center talaga ang bahala and magpapaalam pa rin ako sa mommy ko," she said.
Iwa Moto at the moment doesn’t need to cross over the sexy genre since her showbiz career is flourishing in its own natural way. She is in QTV-11’s series entitled "Posh" and a mainstay in "Nuts Entertainment." Her sponsors include Bum Equipment, Skechers, No Curfew and E-Salon.
Aside from her movie debut via Regal Films, "White Lady," Iwa is scheduled to star alongside Yasmien Kurdi, Christine Reyes, Nadine Samonte, Valerie Concepcion and Angelica Panganiban in an indie film entitled "Pitong Dalagita" which is based on the true story of seven students who committed suicide.
"Unlike sa ‘White Lady’ I’m naïve here and it takes me a long time to absorb what I’m being told," again, Iwa giggled.
Suicide is a subject that the young actress could relate to. In the past, she herself tried taking her own life by slashing her wrist. Her yaya rescued her by bringing her to the hospital for treatment.
So what did she learn from her suicide attempt?
"Huwag kang maglalaslas kasi magkakapeklat ka lang," she laughed. "Well, it’s never too late to change. Hindi mo naman alam kung anong mangyayari sa yo bukas so you don’t have to commit suicide!"
She was then only 16 years old and the eldest in the family. And because she couldn’t take anymore her family problems, she decided to end it all. Luckily for her, she survived and now believes there’s more to life and she is now dreaming of becoming a star someday which big time movie producer Mother Lily Monteverde believes she will achieve!
Iwa Moto (Aileen Iwamoto in real life) is earning herself a college degree in Hotel and Restaurant Management. Her goal is to finish college and hopefully go into the food chain business. Also in her wish list is to someday be able to record an album!
