The woman on the left, she has very strong oriental facial features. Is she an ethnic Punjab or is she from far eastern India that married into a Punjab family? Or is it common to have such beauty within the Punjab community.

Really beautiful, dance. BTW.

yea yea they r traditional indian folk dances....

Bhangra celebrates the harvest, when the sight of tall heaps of golden wheat fill the farmer's heart with joy, he and his fellow farmer's circle round and round in a leapimg, laughing caper, this is acompaniment of large drum beat called Dhol. It is a dance that have no class or race barrer. it is also associated with the festival of Vaisakhi.Bhangra is the folk dance of Panjab, danced by the Panjabi male on the beats of Dhol.

Gidha is on the other hand also folk dance of Panjab and danced by the Panjabi female on the beats of Dholki. The dancers enact verses called boli, which represent folk poetry at its best. The subject matter of these boli's is wide ranging from everything from arguments with in laws or any gosip or political.Aside from the dholki the rhythm of Gidha is set by hand-claps of the dancers and other standing around in circle.

Of the various forms of classical dance in India, Bharata Natyam is believed to be the oldest, because it is the form which is based to the largest extent, on ancient texts on the dance. For centuries it was danced by Devadasis in the temples of south India. Movement, mime and music contribute in equal measure to this beautiful dance from Tamil Nadu, a state in southern India.
It is a solo, dance which is devotioal in spirit. Highly stylised and sophisticated in its technique, Bharata Natyam is evenly divided between nritta, pure dance, and nritya, expressinal compositions. The songs pertain mostly to the theme of love but not sensual love. These are given an elevated and somewhat spiritual flavour. "

That is a semi-classical dance I think.

N thanx for the compliment. biggthumpup.gif .
