Been living in this city my entire life and never did I realize how much it sucked until in recent years. When you're young, you dont tend to notice it very much but as you grow older, especially if you're an asian minority, ya tend to really notice just how backward this city is.

I went to Toronto this weekend to visit some friends. One of them has a condo downtown and thats where we crashed. Oh man, the downtown was beautiful. fu-k!! I serioulsy think downtown TO is one of the nicest downtown areas of any city in the WORLD!!

It's so multicultural too. You have these trendy upper middle class asian professionals walking everywhere. You have white people who are multicultural and exposed to all different cultures. I bet the average white person knows a lot bout asian foods and such.

It's so much more cosmopolitan.

Not like fu-king ottawa. It's infested with french speaking people and the minorities are really under-represented here. No multiculturalism and french dominance.

Not to mention Ottawa lately has experienced an influx of rednecks from the small towns. I swear, there's many people in ottawa driving Ford and Doge pickup trucks.

In Toronto, everyone drives Japanese or European cars and some even drive luxury cars and I saw a few ferraris here and there.

I'm going to take steps to see how I can get the hell out of this goddamn city. I'm gonna get some experience here, buildup my skills, and then find a job in TO. By then, my car will be paid off and so ill get an apartment in downtown TO and find a job there with a lot of savings to rely on.

I don't care what I have to do. I'm getting out of Ottawa.

In 10 years, TO will be like North America's Hong Kong whereas Ottawa is going to be redneck city. Nation's capital my @$$.

I hope none of you ever plan on moving to Ottawa. You'll regret it if you do.

because ottawa is $hit. im gonna work hard from now on and thats it. all my effort from now on will be working towards paying off my car and my debts and to eventually find a nice job in TO where I will reside for the rest of my life.

If I were a Torontorian, I'd be pretty scared that this country is run by the kind of people that reside in Ottawa.

I didn't like Ottawa when I visited Ottawa. The French were obnoxious and rude. I liked Toronto much better.

ottawa isn't the place for single guys. it's more geared towards raising a family. why are you making such a big deal out of the french? most of the people in ottawa are anglophones.

anyway, both cities rank amongst the best in the world for different reasons. personally, i would probably choose montreal over either city. it's got a great night life and it's not as congested as toronto. i think it strikes a good balance between the two. plus, i always spot loads of hot and fashionable girls walking around during my visits. and people in the clubs are a lot more chill. very approachable.

if you think ottawa's bad you should see kingston, london or kitchener/waterloo. veer a hundred meters in any direction from queens' or waterloo's campus and you won't see a single minority in site.

ottawa is where i met my first rude canadian, actually. i was so taken aback i was thinking about it for maybe a week. me and my friend were walking down a street looking for a pool hall and my friend was dribbling a basketball, and this businessman just grabs the ball, gives my firend cut-eye and says, "you better watch it"

yea i've always thought if he had that much aversion towards white people he might as well move to china.

only one blatant rude/racist incident comes to mind while growing up in ottawa. i was walking home from school and some bastards drove by in a brown rust-bucket when the jerk on the passenger side yells, "ya, keep walking you immigrant!". i was pretty fu-king pissed. but then i thought to myself these guys were probably on their way back to the trailor park to bang their first cousins, possibly their sisters, who they would eventually marry and that put me at ease.

jeez. my friend's female cousin just moved to toronto from harbin. he tells me that she had a good job over there in advertisement where she even got to work with miss world contestants! now she's over here looking for a job and she doesn't speak any english. why would anybody want to do that?! especially when china's on the up and up. lol, she was completely unimpressed by the toronto skyline. my friend was like, "uhh, this is the biggest city in canada, it's as good as it gets....".

to is a great place in that you can find anything within the city. i wouldn't mind living there either. i love walking around queen street and doing stuff downtown. so many good places to eat.

what do you mean by conservative anyway? i think people generally leave other people alone, which seems to be a liberal trait. i mean, the city always votes liberal so they can't be all that conservative. imo, old people are conservative and young people are not and this doesn't change much from city to city. do you mean they're less cultured? and i really haven't run into that many rednecks. dude, you're not hanging around stittsville or barrhaven, are you?

Ottawa isn't bad. You notice this when you've been to a BIG city. No, not Toronto. Like London, Paris, New York City, Hong Kong, Tokyo, etc. It's really nice to have a quieter scene where people aren't as mean as they are in big cities. I'd say Ottawa is more cozy whereas Toronto is a bit more fun. And the city is almost the right size, not too big and not too small. I just started noticing the night scene in Ottawa which isn't too shabby.

Toronto sucks :P. Its downtown is really annoying, especially the way it's set up. The subway is old and smelly. I'd even prefer Montreal over Toronto. Yes, the China town is kind of nice in Toronto, but other than that it's a rather gray city. And the god awful traffic. I mean, you get stuck in Don Valley or the MacDonald Cartier and you're there for hours.

I also hate how the city is so split up. Like Mississauga, Scarborough and North York all have separate transit ways. You'll notice living downtown you're better off without a car :P.

I'm also try to get out of Ottawa though. I don't hate it, but there are other places which I'd like to live in :P. Trying to get to Hong Kong actually, but I need to finish my degree here in o-town first.

Ottawa, Ontario reminded me way too much of Austin, Texas in terms of the city's terrain, size, culture, and traffic.
