I'm in the army and stationed in Georgia. I'm origanally from Northern California. I need to be closer to home due to the fact of an unwell family member. I grew up as a Christian and I don't know much about the traditional Hmong funeral. I do know that I'll have a role if the inevitable should arise. The army's not familiar with our tradition and I don't know where I can find information to show them my role and the way our culture conducts funerals. Please help bawling.gif

And what role do you think you have?

but you say your christian...a hmong christian funeral is way different then a shaman funeral. are you going to a shamanist funeral?

even if you are a christian, your elders would still take care of the funeral arrangements and stuff. well that's what i thought. i don't know anything at all. maybe you should ask an elder who is a christian.

No, it's on my in law's side. They're shamanists. It's already been done. Pretty much my dad and my brother in law had to explain every little thing to me. LIke killing a cow, bowing to people to thank them, and a bunch of other little things. I've never felt so lost in my life. It was interesting to go through something that's been practiced by us Hmongs for centuries and centuries though.

u don't have to say much beside a thank you. the older folks say so much cause it makes them sound better that's all but if u really listen to it all it is, is thank you in a long version.
