If there are black people in China, they won't be ghetto. The blacks in China are relatively well to do.

Back in Mao era days, 50s-80s, China invited scholars from Africa to come over and study.

Now if we opened the gates to other countries, most likely China will naturally limit immigration to the creme of the crop of those countries (like the US), so we'll get ourselves model minorities from other countries.

If foreign scholars want to come to study, let them come. I'm talking about minimum wage work.

yes, there are lot of them in HK. Most of them are still waiting for their application to get approve from the United Nation Refugee office in HK. If they get accepted, they can go to canada, u.s and other western countries. Also some of them get to stay in HK too. this is just $hit.

to the topic, i think more and more foreigners will come and stay. Just look at the current number of foerigners in china. I guess couple of millions there already. And soon or later they gonna form all kind of political group and human right group to demand this and that, blah blah blah about this and that. Its rather interesting to see some of u comparing the U.S. and China as if the latter should emulate, or at least improve on the living standards of the former in order to be "better." Establishing Wal-Marts in every town and province in China, creating surbaban sprawl, and any other business system model representative of the U.S. economic structure is somewhat misleading. My question is: Can China benefit itself without having to "westernize" itself in every possible way, culturally, politically, and economically, in order to stay ahead of the game?

they are not invading. china's economy wouldnt have been able to develop so fast without the investment from foreign companies. we benefit and they benefit. in fact, we're probably benefitting more.

the technology transfer going on from foreign companies to chinese is the fastest in the history of the world.

it is true that in the past like in the 19th century, western countries like britain, germany, france and the US were severely exploiting China and so China has this bad memory.

But things are different now. China is its own country with full power over itself. And any foreign company who wishes to do business in China must agree to chinese terms.

Look at all the joint ventures in china. A foreign company comes along and MUST by chinese terms hire a certain number of chinese employees. these employees gain valuable experience which can be developed further.

You obviously no jack all about economics. China is already a latecomer to economic development. It doesnt' have the luxury of time to sit around and reinvent the wheel.

If China doesnt use foreign investment as a springboard to economic achievements, it may never become developed or be so behind first world countries that we may never catch up.

It's time to swallow your chinese pride and learn from those who can do it better.

korean and japanese companies in china treat chinese far worse than western countries do. korean managers are known to be tight wads and extremely exploitive. japanese are a bit better. but western managers are regarded as the most fair.

so you're willing to accept korean and japanese investment in china but limit western investment? based on what? the fact that they are asian?

korea and japan are just as foreign as say the US or Germany or France or England. they shouldnt be regarded better or given better contracts just because they're asian.

Dont get Foreign Investment and foreigners mixed up. Foreign investment is putting money in China, buying up Chinese assets, exploiting the poor and making money so you can take back home.

It's not like foreign investors care about the welfare of Chinese people.

they are also helping chinese gain valuable skills and knowledge which chinese can use to develop their own companies. technology transfer from foreigners to chinese is the highest in the history of human civilization.

and you can hardly call it exploitation. most of those workers at the fac tory earn much more than they do back on their farms in the countryside. they make money and send to their families in the countryside. even if it seems very little to you and me, to them, its big money.

as long as there is improvement and progress, i dont see why there should be any complaints.

chinese companies often exploit and brutalize their own employees much more so than foreign companies do.

that is why in china, most university graduates prefer working for a foreign company. i think that they made a poll and that the top ten companies university students wished to work for, about 5 or 6 were american. the rest were european or japanese.

i never said anything about limiting western investment. the alliance is something to take pride in beyond the financial world of profitting in business. if you want the future to stay the same , then keep sleeping in your segregated norm while others make a difference. do you think rome was built over night?



I agree that China can learn from other nations , this is something I strongly support. Thats why Japan is so well off today.
