nice proof of concept. if they actually put some modern technology like mere sensors that cars have, or even airplane tech, it would be awesome.
except for the mobility

they need to develope a beam saber then that thing would be unstoppable!

lol

It would make more sense to develop a spider-like bot. The feet on that thing are too big, and walking on fours is more stable and useful for rough terrain.

Its from an old game called Mech Warriors / Battle Mech. That was the intro bi-ped mech.
Only good for shooting the legs out of the other mechs..
Build another 1000 of them, then you can have a war game.

Of course it looks bad now considering it's experimental. The real gripe I have with it is that it's two tall legs, with an exposed pilot seat. Too many vulnerabilities.
all a tank has to do is ram the legs, wait nvm, i can do that with my forerunner

actually, if mecha actually had the agility seen in anime, it'd be a pretty potent weapon. humanoid form has versatility refined from millions of years of evolution. so ironically, the more outlandish and "unrealistic" Japanese design of mecha would ultimatley be more militarily feasible.

It's a waste of money and a piece of junk. If you're over 200lbs you just run along side it and give it a swift bump or a kick and it'll topple over. Why embarass yourself saying it's advanced? Look at how it moves and look at all the parts that are just glued on or poorly bolted. There's no rigidness. This thing isnt even good nor stable enough to be sold side bye side with powerwheels at the local toys 'r us.

Too slow and unstable. It won't be able to maneuver on even the most moderate terrains. And it looks as if it won't even be able to shed off a machine gun-caliber munitions, if not rifle-caliber. And I'm just wondering how it will withstand the recoil from all those weapons if they were real. Recoilless guns and missiles may be the answer, but they don't have the potential that of the big guns in terms of firepower and rate-of-fire.
I don't see any mechanized machines taking over the battlefield for the next decade or two. For crying out loud there isn't even a properly functioning gyro stabilization system small, sturdy, fast, and accurate enough to be used on a military hardware like this.
Besides all that, mechs have tremendous profile. A main battle tank nowadays have twice less battlefield and urban profile than a stomping mech like that. So unless the engineers can come up with a way to reduce the proportions to perhaps only slightly higher than a tracked fighting vehicle that we have nowadays or less, it will be too vulnerable to being hit, thus making it unusable in military.
