Hi there, I'm currently studying on a major historical personality and event in modern history and I decided to do Pol Pot. ATM I really can't find any detailed information about the genocide. If you have any links that would be greatly appreciated.

i dont really know him, but based on his actions and rules i think it's retarded .. becuase during the cultural cleansing, he wanted to destroy everything that was khmer .. how retarded is that?

I personally admire him for his patriotism- towards Cambodia, but I hate him for his crimes against Vietnam.

Pol Pot unlike those other mass murderers of our past, was possibly one of the worse because of that fact that he prosecuted his own people. He didn't want a better world, he just wanted one where there are only farmers and uneducated people so that they would not question what he was doing and a plausable reason as to why. I wrote my junior thesis on the whole Khmer Rouge era and that crap was FLIPPEN BRUTAL. there were times where the khmer rouge soldiers who were often brain washed KIDS would tattle on their own parents because they didn't know any better, then there were times when those same soldiers would kill an entire family right in front of their other family members, AND THEY DIDN'T EVEN CARE!

Hun Sen i'm sure was one of the officials or leaders in the whole thing, i swear i don't understand why that @$$hole is still alive and is ranking so high in Cambodia now. Oh and Pol Pot, wasn't the "official" president of Cambodia at the time, i dont think he was one at all actually...but the real man was some guy name Kheui Somphan...i know i spelled that wrong...

i found it kind of ironic and quite scary, that, Pol Pot's real name was Salot Sar (again i apologize for the wrong spelling. but his real name meaning White-Sar,,then theres the whole Khmer Rouge name-red, and the actual president's name has Kheui-blue. (red+white+ blue= american flag-our colors....) that seriously freaked me out...well...theres so much more to say..but not enough time..i hoped this helped.

pol pot's riegn probably still lives on cause there is this one freaky arse family that i know carries that surname.. and man, they are insanely brutal .. yes they're khmer, and they lie alot, but i took them seriously when they claimed to be decendents of pol pot..

I witnessed how their dad 'disiplines' his children and one time i when he was teaching khmer class his kids participated in learning as well as other kids from the neighboorhood. His daughter was not paying attention to the lesson so he asked her "what does this read" ? she said "i dont know" then he said "what do you mean you dotn know? i've been talking about this the whole time!" .. then she said "so " ..

before you know it, the whole class heard "pang pow" the sound of what being punched really sounds like .. His arm was straight and stiff with a clenched fist, rigth on his daughter's chest he swung and a hard blow .. and she didnt cry -- the entire class was like WTF?!?! of course we were to scared to say anything so after he dismissed class, everyone stopped attending ...

My brother and my sisters told our mom about it so she was like "As long as he doesnt touch you who cares" ? okay mom, we are never going agian!

he never got his degree, he failed 2 years straight and was sent back to cambodia.

my dad meant a vietnamese officer during the khmer rhouge ousting who speak khmer, he told my dad tht vietnam didnt even wonna invade cambodia, but some rengade KR(heang samrin, hun sen ask them for help), and due to KR incursions, eventually staying in cambodia to long tht guy left the military, fled to thailand. yer tht invasion almost cost viet an economy no doubt to tht.

Using military force was the last resort to ensure the safety of VietNamese borders so the armed forces of VietNam launched the war against the Khmer Rouge in 1978.

The occupation of Cambodia eventually retarded the recovery of VietNam's economy and set Cambodia back several decades, that ugly episode cost both countries dearly.

my teacher went to chico state University and had a khmer student as a lab partner in chemistry .. time went by, blah blah my teacher got to know more about the cambodia situation and how that khmer student wanted his family to come .. but they were afraid 'americans will eat them cause teh KR tells khmers that'
