I've noticed for quite a while that in Japanese videogames at least, the majority of the game will obviously be in Japanese but yet some things will always be in English, like perhaps the main menu buttons or something like that. I just don't understand why some parts of Japanese games are in English.

Why is that? Are they trying to make Japanese learn English this way or not? Is it to help import gamers somewhat? You all have noticed this haven't you?

Globalization? A lot of japanese websites also have English like if you go to this movie website : http://www.shinobi-movie.com/index2.html .. most of the tabs are in English but the content is in Japanese. Actually there are more English words nowaday in Japanese but written in katakana and pronounced like japanese words, so you can't really notice if you can't read japanese.

I've noticed those as well. It's kind of annoying since it just sounds like the English word with a thick Japanese accent.

This does not apply to just videogames. In Japanese music lyrics, a lot of it are English.
