my name is Guus and I live in Holland. I practice Falun Gong (Falun Dafa). I saw some articles about Falun Gong on this forum, with negative reactions.

Maybe we should go back to 1992 where it al started? In 1992 mr. Li Hongzhi shows Falun Gong to the Chinese public. Falun Gong is a Qigong-practice with 5 exercises (including meditation) to energize and purify the body. Next to that, a practitioner follows Truth, Compassion and Tolerance. Falun Gong was very populair in China before 1999. Many people where practicin it, even people from the government. It realy gives people good health, (like me: since I practice Falun Gong I am never sick anymore) and learns people to be a good person.

But in 1999 the CCP decided to persecute Falun Gong. It's big propaganda-machine started to produce lies about mr. Li Hongzhi, Falun Gong, and the practitioners. Many ours on TV are spended to blame Falun Gong, and creatin lies to give Falun Gong a bad image. Like the burn-incident... This is also a lie of the CCP. Why should we burn ourselves? Falun Gong forbid to murder, including suicide, or to hurt somebody. Or the lies that we can't take medicine... I readed all the books and articles of mr. Li Hongzhi, and in not a single one he tells you that you can't take medicine.

Why started the CCP to persecute people that want to be friendly and get a better health? Maybe it's because many people where practicin. In China their are more than 100 million practitioners. That's more than the members of the CCP. Maybe they were affraid of loosing influence? Falun Gong hasn't political motives, so what is it to be affraid of? Rumours tells you that Jiang Zemin was very jealous because Falun Gong was so populair, and then he started the persecution.

Because I live outside of China I get information about the CCP that Chinese people will never be able to hear of, because the CCP is controling the media. More than 12 million Chinese people have already quit the CCP. A article that had an huge impact on Chinese people all over the world is 'the nine commentaries on the CCP'. For the first time people are able to read the truth behind the CCP, and what they realy are. And how they have killed millions of people and are fooling the Chinese people with their lies. If you are not sure that Falun Gong is good or bad, than just seek for yourselve. Read Zhuan Falun or other 'real' articles of Falun Gong, you can find them at: www.falundafa.org After reading them you will see that Falun Gong isn't a cult or something. Just friendly people that want to be good.

see what i don't understand about Falun Gong is the fact that they preach tolerance, yet they continue to protest. Maybe times have changed for me but i remember documentaries on buddhist monks in china who where persecuted but toleranced it all. They did not protest or ask for aid from outsiders. YET they are still here today, alive and well. THAT'S TOLERANCE.

I just want to say that I didn't know of Fa Lun Gong until my mum's best friend's husband started practicing it.

And about 3 weeks, he had weird imaginations like: if he practice Fa Lun Gong he can make an empty car refuel itself, or he needed to burn 3 five-dollar notes (Australian money) to ward off "evil spirits".

He was completely insane after the fourth week.


He has since stopped practicing it, and these days, rarely talk and look like a hermit.


It could be just him, or it could be something wrong with this practice... I don't know, but all what I do know is (and see every time I go to the Chinese embassy in Australia) people practicing Fa Lun Gong standing outside the embassy meditating in protest... They look scary in my opinion, and insane...

Unlike Yoga and Pilates which I think are a more mentally "healthier" option, Fa Lun Gong looks like something that will put me in a mental hospital.

I think their is something wrong with your mum's friend... Like I said earlier, search for yourselves. On the website I have given to you ( www.falundafa.org ), you can read all the articles of Falun Gong. For example, the book "Zhuan Falun" is the most important book of all books and articles. Why don't you read it? Then you can see for yourselves if their is something weird in it, right?

Maybe I can give an example of my own experience. Before I started to practice, I was a very agressive boy. Just a little thing could let me expolde, I realy had no patience at all. And their was just one thing that I cared about, and that was myself. In the year 2004 I stopped to practice Tai Chi. So I was looking for something else. On a dutch website I saw Falun Gong, I saw that the exercises were simple and it was for free. So I learned the 5 exercises and started reading the books "Zhuan Falun" and "Falun Gong". They helped me a lot. Since I practice Falun Gong, I am very relaxed and calm. I never get upset and I tread everybody with respect. I think of others first when I want to do something, and I never have any stress anymore. The status of my mind is always calm and I feel always happy. Falun Gong also improved my health. First I was always ill, but now I am never ill anymore.

Falun gong is banned in China because they preach about the power of prayer/meditation and says it cures diseases. It was one of their flyers I saw on. A little boy was sick and needed immediate medical attention and his parents left him outside to meditate and heal himself under the sun. He died from heat exhaustion and severe illness and his parents were ashamed of him because they said he didn't believe in the power of the prayer.

I'm actually a very reasonable person and give benefit of the doubt to anything, but if letting a child die outside is just wrong.

That's not what my aunt told me, she tried Falun Gong before. But since there was one time, when we caught a cold and had a fever, and the leader told her not to see doctor just kept practicing Falun Gong. After that, she quited. Of course, she did see a doctor and she was fine after a couple days.
Modern Medication are thru tested hunderds of thousand times, and it is created thru scientific methods.
I believe everybody understand what's scientific method, that is ----------
Obersvations -- Keep first hand records on those Observations(Not listen to anyother people's experiences)
Create the theory
Test the theory thru experiments.
Obersavtions of those experiments, if those experiments prove that the theory is correct, then the theory is success. otherwise, it's failure.

There are some Pseudo-science:
1: Believe in super-nature, when there are no qualify evidences show super-nature exist, we can't say it exist, however, we can't say it doesn't exist too.
2: Quantity can't replace Quality. Even tho there are millions people claim that they saw UFO, however, those claims are lack of qualify evidence, therefore they are trash. A big pile of trash is much bigger than a small pile of trash, but they are trash still.

I have already read the books of Falun Gong, it assembles a lot of information from Buddism, combined with so called "sicentific explanation". However, not much example and evidences or proof are given in the text.
Therefore, i will consider it as a religious, I won't consider it as sicence. As long as it tells people not to see doctor while they are sick, or It tells people that they won't get sick if they practice Falun Gong, I will call it EVIL Religious PERIOD !

What's the point of it? Why have it? We have modern medicine now. If I have colon cancer, I'll probably just be gamma bombed in the @$$ by a radiologist.

Everybody should have the right to join a crazy cult as long as they don't go hurting others. If that crazy cult gets large enough to threaten a whole country than that country should start to take a look at why there are so many people in it that are willing to join a crazy cult to begin with. You don't just cut out a tumor when you have cancer, you treat the whole body.

By the way, I'm not saying China has anything to worry about. Falun Gong is insignificant. Not that many people are involved in it. It's just a convenient distraction from real problems.

Thanks for the information. Also looked it up in my encyclopedia after my last post to you. What I've read does kind of prove my point about fanatics not being the root of the problem. More that they are just the end product of a larger disease. Natural disasters, losses to Western powers, ineffective leadership ... up sprouts the tumor of a fantical cult. Don't think Falun Gong is that much of a threat to modern China but if it ever becomes one it might be because there are too many disaffected people willing to join a crackers group like that. I know cults are often more complex than this simple analysis, just thought it could be one explanation for their rise (And usual fall, except for those groups we now officially sanction as a 'religion'. Seriously could you a imagine a fu-ked up nut like Jesus wandering around today; lock him up, shoot him full of prozac, and then let him waste away his prozac-filled happy days sorting plastic knubs in a factory. It is probable. However, this also started occurring when he started practicing it FaLun Gong.
And when his daughter was sick (my friend) he didn't want her to go to the hospital, nor take any medicines because FaLun Gong said it was "poisonous" to take man-made medicines.
Luckily, we did not listen to him, and my mum took her to the hospital in our car.



I've heard of similar effects from people studying other religions: Christianity, Buddhism, Taoism.etc.

Falun Gong is kinda like Polygamy in the U.S

If a person don't want to go to a hospital, than that's his/her own choice. What has that to do with Falun Gong? I saw that some people here had readed the books of Falun Gong. Tell me: Did you read something about it is forbidden to take medicine, and that it is poison? Did you read something about that you must burn yourselves? Did you read something about using violence? No. What you did read was that the books encourage you to be a better person and to follow "Zhen, Shan, Ren".

About my illnesses: I used to be a couple of time ill in one year time. When the weather gets colder, I was most of the time ill. But I started to practice Falun Gong since 2004. Since then I am never ill anymore.

Guus, I am American and several of my friends do Falun Gong and get harassed by the Chinese students on my campus daily. I think you are very brave to come on here and face the Chinese bigots by yourself. All I can say is that hate comes from jealousy, for example white supremacists often hate blacks because they know that lots of "white" culture has african origins (as does a lot of "asian" culture, since all humans are from Africa). You know, I also don't know what they're talking about...burning and no medicine. I searched every falun gong site that you gave me and I found nothing about it and therefore they must not be telling the truth. How can a religion that teaches tolerance tell people to kill themselves. It is impossible. These people have no right to slander Falun Gong, and hopefully they'll get what is coming to them.

That is a total lie. Chinese students don't harass Falun Gong people in States. Chinese students in US are too busy studying and working and surviving. They don't even have time to relax and enjoy themselves let along harassing. Even in Chinatown, no ones harrass any Falun Gong member while they are showing videos and handing out pamphlets and flyers and calling out "down with CCP" on the streets. Eventually Falun Gong members will realize that all the Falun Gong teachings they learned won't work. They will be piss off and kill themselves.
