Most of my family is Swaminarayan.

I find their practices wierd, esp vis a vis woman. Except their temples, Swaminarayanans are like ISKCON to me. Watch them far, enjoy it, but never get too close!

all swaminarayans happen to be gujjus! What's up with that!

Uhhh......How do you find out what kind of a Hindu you are?

I think my mom leans more toward the Shaiivite thingie, or whatever you call it..meaning she worships Shiva, Durga...Is that you mean?

Gaudiya Hindus are one the trace there founder to Chaitanya Mahaprabhu. Just think ISKCON. But I'm not a Hare Krishna. My family is w/ the Sri Chaitanya Saraswat Math is another Gaudiya Math(Sect). Gaudiyas are Vaishnavas(worship Vishnu Avatars). Your mother is a Saivite and worships Shiva? Cool. Yeah I'm really good at any Hindu religious stuff. So if you need any info!

I'd agree that most Swaminarayans are kinda crazy(pretty much anyone that takes religon seriously is), my parents aren't and rest of my family does little things to let them know they aren't. As for me I'm like the family dalit.

Our family isn't super into that...We're just Hindu at the end of the day. Well, we're not that religious....
