Okay you know that actress from disney, her surname is Xiong .. well yeah, her grandpa passed like this summer or something, so his church organized his funeral and called all the xiong family and church members to pay respect.. Well she's (disney actress) is his niece, so she did come to the church (in stockton) and she was wearing black, came with her mom and everything .. One problem, she was stayed in the car like she was too high class to mingle with her her family and eat hmong food .. I heard this from my friend cause she goes to the same church, but i was like "whaaatt?!" seriously, what's the difference between showing up for a funeral and not actually being there, but sitting comfortably in your Beamer? i would've slapped the b!tch with my fifty hand that was cleansed in 2$ hand sanitizer

Sure, she may have been able to show more respect, but she probably felt very out of place because she is high profile and she's young. First, she's a Hmong teen, and from what I've observed, she's not the only Hmong teen to have not gotten all involved with funerals. I'm not condoning her actions by any means, just pointing out that her actions are not absurdly uncommon.

I use to know a couple of Hmong girls with the last name Song. I asked them where did their last name came from and they say it was the Hmong green way of spelling it...

I've seen a few Hmongs that have changed the way their name is spelled.....Knew some Xiongs that were Sone etc.


If you think about it...it really doesn't matter....because it's just a Western attempt to pronounce the name...but in Hmong...it's still "Xyooj"

umm... my close friend was attending the funeral so i dont know why you're trying to defend her like she's innocent and we're the ones who are badmouthing her for no reason. In France, we have two differents orthographies for this name : XIONG and SIONG (i don't really know how, maybe it's was a mistake when they spell their name like this when they came in France). And more, hmong people have China's surnames. I think that Xiong is the same name than Song. Like here, Siong and Xiong.

.. hmm.. how to put this ? ... you know the hmong community here in stockton is very close knit, you have to be very careful when you talk cuase hmongs know other hmongs and just like other asians, you can be the talk of the town if you did something really bad .. for example, a hmong brother got shot and died in south side .. that story will get all hmongs in the know ..

that story about brenda was a first hand account by my friend who attended teh funeral from start to end.. anyways, after the funeral was ended, brenda's mom got in the car and they just left .. not only my friend , but brenda's cousins and others were feeling the same way ...

Really I do respect her for making it to the movie industry. That is something not all of us can do.
