so i heard it was the most europeanized city in NOrth America.
for that you go to Québec City IMO. it's so beautiful and european... (and smaller too, but still big enough to be a city...)
montréal is more like a clash of modern architecture and old but pretty looking buildings. however in Québec City the people aren't so keen on speaking english, whereas in Montréal, one can live there for the rest of his or her life w/o knowing a word of French.

i don't want to go anywhere too far for a trip with my friend. and I never went to Canada before... i heard the nightlife was good.
canada = awesome. you'll love it in montréal. it's like paris but people speak english and it's close.
you missed the jazz festival! ;__;

plus its only about a 2 hour flight from chicago. please enlighten me more about this city and its attractions.. <3
attractions? umm, lots of catholic-ish stuff...
notre-dame basilica (apparentlyt hey have a nice light show at night but i didn't get to see it?), it's where that b!tch celine dion got married i think. it looks SO NICE. i'm not kidding. like NIIIIIIIIIIIIIICE.
st. joseph's oratory (st. jospeh = patron saint of canada) in the huge @$$ oratory i think brother andré's heart is like in a box somewhere... (yea we catholics are crazy... hahahah)
and then there's the olympic stadium... w/ the tower of montréal... and this zoo kinda thing called the biodome...
then there's Mont-Royal (which is where Montréal get's it's name... -__-) it's this big hill where you can see all of the island of montréal (montréal is situated on a big island fyi) and atop the mountain is this huge cross that you can see from various points in the city, although it isn't incredibly spectacular like the christ the redeemer in rio, it's not as big as i thought it would be... altohugh maybe that's just because my city has the most pwnage tower ever...
just ton of stuff... two things you MUST see though.
take a taxi to
old montréal. that's where the basilica is anyways, so you better go to old montréal or i'll kill you. the taxi driver that took us to old montréal was kinda stupid and his english sucked but we got there... -__- just had to do a bit of walking to get where we wanted to go... it looks really beautiful. i went during the winter and it looks absolutely breathtaking.

with the falling snow... it just looks awesome... (beware: montréal winters are ridiculously cold, colder than toronto or chicago) cobblestone streets so err, only wear heels if you're prepared for it, but yea, it's just a great place to walk around, look at the old architecture, $hit like that... that's the kind of $hit you can't get in toronto... (iunno if chicago has a neighbourhood full of old french looking apartments but toronto doesnt ;__;)
next, you gotta at least take a peek at the
souterrain or 'the underground'. great place for shopping or just avoiding the cold weather. it's like several blocks all built under downtown montréal... tons of shops, retaurants, grocery stores.. i heard there's even a school under there... but yea it connects to the subway system so it should be fairly easy to get there. there's one like it in toronto but it's really dinky and it just connects a few skyscrapers together. nothing like in MTL.
if you want to see pictures.. umm visit this site i created for a grade 8 french project
http://www.freewebs.com/hamstarr/montreal.htmland to anyone else looking at it, my friend SUCKS so shaddap if you see any grammar problems!
