How low can the temperature go in Hanoi's typical winter? I read somehwhere 14 Celcius is the lowest but there is also monsoon and windchill factor. From where I live, We experience colder winter, temperature is 0 degrees or less and there are several days of snow in year. How cold would I feel if i go to Hanoi in its coldest month?
BTW, What is the coldest major Vietnamese cities, besides Sapa?(if you have any images, please post)

Sapa temperature in winter is usually from 0-10 deg C
Hanoi the average temperature is 10-20 deg C. It could drop below 10 for weeks though.
In fact, all of North Vietnam average temperature is 10-20 dec C. Further up in the mountain, the temperature will drop.

The reason why it feels very cold is that:

- Sunshine hour for North Vietnam during 3 month winter is ~ 0-2 hour daily. In the middle of winter, you will never see the sun. Even in Spring, you hardly see the sun.

- It is windy, and there is no central heating in public place or in houses.

- Snowing only happens in Sapa and the surrounding regions; however, you will absolutely feel the cold even just get out of the city because it is all paddy and mountains.

- It is foggy very often.

It is always good to take with you warm clothing even if you are from temperate zone. The cold i felt there is mostly because of the wind. It is probably equivalent to 5-10 degrees temperature in a normal place with heating.
