My white friend said he was disgusted by the sight of japanese portraying themselves as white. He also told me that most japanese girl are not pretty and he is also tired of seeing japanese girls trying to get with white man. Please tell me why we asians always try to cause trouble for the white people!

Wow, first time I've heard that from a white dude.
That is really one of the tiny reasons I dislike anime, that everyone is white and most of the brown/black characters are only for support, comic relief, get killed off early, etc. We need more dark skinned characters in anime!

i trypp about this too man ... the only coloured characters are the highly stereotyped characters ... a brown person is like almost fobish mexican, a black guy is a theif, and the yellow people are chinese or asians ..

I guess it's cause the Japanese really just want to become white, which will also make the girls much prettier so that the real 'whites' will like them. The Japanese aren't trying to cause problems, they're just getting in touch w/their white-ness, that's all




















For goodness sake, it's anime. If your friend doesn't like it, he can just ignore it. Most characters are so funky anyways, that I doubt they'd pass as anything other than what they are: anime characters.

Whiteness (as in skin tone) has always been a trait that the Japanese liked even before Western influence. . . .but to answer your question, there has actually been research done related to that topic. Try google scholar to see if you can find anything legit. I know there are studies out there because I participated in a study about it. . .

the reason all the japanime characters look white is because japan worships the whites and wish they were whites because they got their azz kicked by the USA in WW2! period

I've never watched anime and thought the characters look like white people, granted their skin is a little pale in general but how many white people do you know that look like this

seriously, oriental has so many shades of yellow(?), do you expect them to come up with that many skin tones? of course they're going to pick the one they like best. plus, i've seen so many japanese cosmetic/ facial product and food that guarantees for a whiter skin, they obviously find white skin more attractive. if the anime character has different skin color, would it really look better? plus, if a lot of characters has the same skintone the one with the lighter skin won't stand out as much, i see the one with darker skin as their trait or uniqueness in the anime.
as with the japanese girl going out with white man.....it's all preference. its not like the guy is forced, he might have been the one to ask her out.

they portray themselves as whites? seems to me that they portray their figures with oversized heads, purple eyes, blue hair and hairstyles that defy gravity, they can do that, cause its cartoons, its just freaking cartoons... do you prefer the cartoons to be exactly like the japanese? bone structure and all that $hit? they already have that, its called movies.
