Does anyone know the average calories and nutrition facts of a Banh Mi sandwhich?

I know depending on the place you get it, they are made differently but usually they generally have the same basic ingredients.

Reason why I'm asking is there's this Vietnamese place right next to where I work and I am thinking bout just droppin by there normally for a sandwhich for lunch or dinner....(instead of driving to other places for meals)

I'm trying to lose weight so I don't wanna take in too much calories during a meal....so as long as these sandwhiches are around only 500-600 or less calories it's cool....

Doesn't matter if its healthy or not just as long as you like it.

I like them.....I just don't wanna take in almost a day's consumption of calories or something in one meal..... embarassedlaugh.gif That's why I'm asking. I could do with eating these for a quick meal whenever possible.

That stuff is so good, too bad they don't have any shops that sell that where I live icon_sad.gif

Oh, isn't the meat in it quite fatty?

yea, i can vouch manh mi's are a alternative from big macs and other fast foods...im not sure how many calories one sandwich consists of, but eating 1 everyday is cool...
Mizz_Luv3r
They're good as hell! Well, you don't want to eat too many if you're trying to lose weight. Think about all the meat and fat spreads that are slapped into them (but that's what makes it taste good)...lol
lilasiankid
I see..thanks for the input everyone!

Yeah, I'll just be having 1 sandwhich for a lunch most days. If it's healthier than fast food than that's good enough.
nguyen1234
No cheese, no getting fat.
bun_bo_hue
In the U.S, it's $1.50 for a banh mi too?
Kelly
Those sandwiches are so...good. I have not have one for ages but, mentioning it or thinking about it makes me want one right now.
xxxxmoogle
ask the people who sell it they mite know..O.O
i use to eat those a lot some yrs ago but the bakery who usually made them moved i think and the new bakery sells ones that are different to the one i'm used to..it has hard pieces of fat in it and some odd gelly in there...embarassedlaugh.gif

Well the sauce is important. Since when does Bahn Mi have mayonnaise in it? Never!
TyCooN
It taste so differnet with all that carrot/white stuff in it. I usually just eat it with the meats and bell peppers.

My only problem is SubWay isnt even Asian Owned. Some dude is gonna get a profit jack-up with somebody else's eats and won't even have to pay royalites.

well, subway is a can be owned by private citizens that form a partner with subway to use subway equipment and expertise in marketing...ive met several different people who owned a subway..

I just ate another one of these todays.

the only down fall of a typical banh mi is, the toasting of bread..some times the bread they use is so tough, cuts into my gums and upper mouth...but hey, i guess thats the price for eating a good banh mi!!!!
so?im_a_chink
banh mi is really good. if u want to find how much calories, search for the amount of calories are in each ingredient and if u still want to eat them if u find out that they are packed with calories, then make your own.
kaiwen
i had one earlier today ,the grilled pork one. they are addicting and affordable
Nha Le
I once loved banh mi so much that I ate it everyday for one week. It still taste good but not great.
AsianMonkeyKid
Typical size, is about 600-650 calories.
neena
hmm...honestly i don't think its AS fatten as American sandwishes. i mean...you don't normally find carrots and cilandros in a burger right? and they don't even put in THAT much BBQ pork slices. and the mayo...not so much either. i think if i had that for lunch everyday i'd choose that. also, yeah its cheaper then a sub. its just that the bread is hard...so you need good teeth.
Taeng
i don't care if it's fat or not it tastes good to me.

i don't think it's that fattening though since it's just mainly carbs.
Rocky Cuong V
Those ban mi kid are simply gold. I would eat it everyday, but if I do, my @$$ will become spicy. lolz
VNduck
hell ya
banh mi is good man
you got meat, like a thoundsand kind, then vegetables, load of it, then the soure carrot and raddish( is that the white carrot called?) bring out your appetit
van_girl
HOW come nobody considered the sandwich being fat? anything that is made from flour or starch can be fattening also! and the white sandwich should also contain pig oil ingredients! but OMG those viet sandwiches taste so good, and it does get kind of tough finding a viet place that sells the perfect sandwich cause some really suck at making it! viet sandwiches are my favourite!!!!!
bucket
I want one right now.
indacut
aw man..

throw a little siracha on it and its over...

Oh my god, I love Vietnamese sandwiches! I especially like the ones they sell at Banh Mi My Tho. I prefer them over Banh Mi Che Cali (another famous sandwich branch in LA)... They really fill their sandwiches with meat (the real kind, not the kind they use at Lee's), and do not over-stuff with veggies. The bread is thick and crisp & their meat/stuffing is just great!! I especially like the pickled carrots and daikon.
Mizz_Luv3r
The best banh mi shop is in Asian Square in Georgia. I live in Texas now and I can't find another place that makes it like the one in GA does. All of the other shops that I've been to usually skimps on the pâté and meat. I did find one decent place, but they don't use the traditional bread.

I don't know the healthiness of it, but frankly it's one of those things I could give a heck about. I broke diet with it and a nice cup of boba.
